Looking for a new combat turn based CRPG? |
|
Can anyone think of any newer first person CRPGs that deserve to be played? I am partial to turn based/phased combat though. I am currently finishing up Wiz8 and I have t6he Might and Magic series. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I really loved Wiz8, but I do not know about any other game with similar turn based fights (and first person view). |

Shame on you, Lintra. He asked for 1st person turn based...
It's been a little thin for us 1st person turn-based fans. Since you've covered Wiz8 and M&M, I'm afraid you're out of recently released choices. Going back a little, you might give "Wizards & Warriors" a spin. I found it to be a bug-fest and eventually gave up on it, but others really had a blast with it. Some of the crash-to-desktop issues I had may have been in my rig, but I think the game had some troubles as well. W&W certainly has a good pedigree- DW Bradley was a key player for SirTech in the Wizardry series, although he went his own way before Wiz8 was developed. That's about your only option as far as major releases, and that game goes back over a year.
If I've overlooked something, someone speak up. I share RNJeffrey's game preference and would love to have something else to tinker with. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

Oops my mistake! dteowner is 100% correct.
However, try Dragon Wars. I played this quite some time after it's release and still enjoyed it. A CRPG with a TON of charcter. It is turn based and first person. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

Lands of lore 1,2,3
Demise: Rise of the Kutan
Ashgan
(System shock II)
Bards tale 1-3?
Antomorph?
Ultima IX (With very close overhead view possibility) (almost 1.st person)
No one lives forever II
Might & Magic IX (If battlespire is written as recommended so can MMIX) _________________ Moderator on RPGdot.com Forum.

Dani,
I was not joking before about Dragon Wars. Try it. It is a really good game. Old, but really good. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

Some of the games are Abandonware or Freeware and can be downloaded at
http://www.the-underdogs.org/
Unfortunately some of the best turn-based games are not 1st person view:
Jagged Alliance 1,2, Deadly Games, Unfinished Business;
Fallout 1,2,Brotherhood of Steel;
Incubation + Mission Disk
non-rpg
Civilization, Colonization, Panzer General, Fantasy General _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild= |

I LOVED Fantasy General. I was very upset I could not get it run on my Win 98 system, no matter what I did.
That game kept me going for a good couple of months. I grew very attached to my army. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=
