The Castlevania series are without a doubt the ultimate vampire/vampire killer games.
My personal faves are...
Simons Quest(NES) - loved the flame whip and RPG elements
Castlevania 3(NES) - you could play 4 characters including the vampire Alucard
Symphony of the Night(PSX) - Again you got to play as Alucard, and this game was a blatant clone of Super Metroid 3...which is a good thing.
And without a doubt my all-time favorite Castlevania is called Dracula-X for the PC-Engine/Turbo Grafx-16. This game had killer cd-audio that is even better than Symphony of the Night & Lament of Innocence(both done by same composer) Do not confuse this gem with the lame SNES version we got in the US. Sadly this game is very rare and goes for 200 bucks on Ebay.
With all the the games, PC, NES, SNES,Genesis, PSX, PS2, N64, Gameboy, Advance...
What are your faves? Which ones do you hate? What are your favorite characters and soundtracks from these games?
Long live Dracula & the Belmonts!!!!! _________________ Between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities…there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars…Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand…to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet. - Robert E. Symphony of the Night (I believe... the first one for PS where you played Alucard) was my favorite. Alucard was fun enough to play and I liked the voice acting, such as it was. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

I have liked every Castlevania game, even the muddy N64 ones.
My favorite Castlevania was definitely Castelvania IV on the Super Nintendo. I loved the way you could latch onto metal rings with the whip and swing across chasms. I also thought the music was great. In a few places, the music was even moody and haunting.
I also like Circle of the Moon on the GBA a lot. Great graphics (although too dark without a GBA SP) and excellent music again.
I bought the recent PS2 release, Lament of Innocence. Not bad. A good first effort at bringing Castlevania into 3D on the latest consoles. _________________ Apologize, v.i. To lay the foundation for a future offense.
