Keen edge is a bard and sorcerer spell. You can upgrade a weapon to be 'keen' however: It requires the feat 'create magic arms and armor' and the spell 'keen edge' and is a +1 enhancement to a weapon for pricing purposes. So a +1 sword costs 2000, a +2 sword costs 8000, and a +1 keen sword costs 8000.

A sword or armor can hold up to +10 in enhancements, though the weapon enhancement (the "+" of the weapon... ie: +3) can't exceed +5.

So in the pen and paper game you may have a
+5 Flaming Burst, Keen Longsword of Throwing and Returning

That's +5 for the enhancement +2 for flaming burst +1 for keen +1 for throwing +1 for returning. It would be priced as a +10 weapon in the DMG, which is... either 150 or 200,000 gold. Expensive, but funny... a flaming longsword that you can throw up to 50 feet and will return to your hand.

I can't imagine such customization being worked into TOEE... but the fact they have item creation at all impresses me.

*whistles innocently* I'm estimating I'll have my party of five and hit the game running in about 15 minutes or a little less.

Please tell me that you don’t have the game yet. You know people are know for killing for less.

No, not yet. I suspect most people here will have the game and may even be done the game by the time I get my version. Just once I'd like to be one of the 'first' to review a game... but what can you do. God bless the postal system.

I just started playing in the world of MMORPG and I think you've basically summed up my own experience with it pretty well. It's sort of like a weird dinner party where you can kill things while you make small talk. That by itself is pretty cool but I still like the total fantasy that is the single player experience more.

I'm extremely grateful Troika went all out SP with ToEE. SP is the only way to go...for me at least. I enjoy the occasional multi experience... a little NWN or the occasional MUDs that I never play anymore. (used to be hooked on them) However, I don't like MMORPGs... can't stand them, but I'm glad they're out there, that way, MP games stay MP and SP games stay SP. NWN is the only multi-player game I own (unless you consider BG&BG2 multi)...and personally I bought NWN for the SP user mods. (no good games on the horizon? I'll go download one ) By excluding MP Troika had the time to fine-tune things like that journal system.

Tim Cain gave a tenative 'a week or so after release', I believe, though he also said he's hoping they can get it done sooner. The demo will be a small section with a pregenerated level 2 party. No character creation will be part of the demo

Just look at this screen shot, I will finally have visual understanding what’s going on.

@Seth - this is THE feature of ToEE in my opinion. I love seeing what's going on during battles. Here it is clear and accessable. Very nice.

@ stanthony, so far there is not one feature I wouldn’t like. The journal, the character creation and now this, its just to good.

I'll probably use this feature to see if the dice rolling is rigged, like it was in Ruins of Myth Drannor.

I'll also use it in harder fight to see what exactly I'm aiming for so I can determine what combat variables I should utilize.

Overall, I like this feature.

I thought the demo was complete and that Atari would release it later this week? Looks like I'd better go pre-order...

I can't wait for the demo, but I'm overwhelmed with anticipation for the real deal so I can sink my teeth into the character creation for my party!

Still 12 days to go!

I can't wait to sink my teeth into the hard-core mode and watch the bodies pile! It'll be like the old Might & Magic III days...if they get slashed just chuck em' at the bar and get some new, unlucky souls.

Yeah... Iron Man mode has got to be pretty intense in a game like this. I'll probably have to hold off on tackling that for awhile though.
