Well, since I started playing ToEE I've got quite into D&D games again and was wondering what the general consensus about SoU was.
Is it worth getting?
I was thinking of getting it and trying to play a character through this and the HoU when that comes out. HoU looks better I think, but if I'm going to get one, well, I might as well get the other. Besides decent RPGs are quite thin on the ground at the moment so I can't afford to pass up a semi-decent one.
Whats the verdict fellow RPGDoter's? |

If by SoU, you mean shadows of undrentide, then it's VERY worth bying. See for yourself: 5 new classes
New Much Better story
New Graphic(textures)
And a lot of stuff like that...
I think it's much better than NWN itself. But a bit smaller. BTW: You'll need the original NWN to play.
BTW: What's HoU, do you mean HotU(Hordes of the underdark)? |

If you enjoy the multiplayer aspect of NWN, then pick it up. If not, then wait for the price to drop.

I would sort of tie ~NOBODY~ and Val's comments together. I wouldn't purchase SoU for the campaign. It's good, but you can download and play countless good modules for free. The additional content for character and module development (new skills, feats, spells, classes, monsters, and toolset features) are the strong point of SoU. If that sounds good to you, buy it; if you're looking for a good mod, save your money until later like Val said.

If you are big into multiplayer OR into those fancy schmancy really-cool single player modules that use SoU (which are only starting to come out now) -- then SoU is a must-get.
If you are just mainly concerned with SoU's own single-player campaign, maybe wait for it to go "budget". I guess this will happen as soon as HotU come out. |

The upgrades are worth the price of the expansion pack. The campaign is quite good compared to the original NWN (which was boring IMHO) and Greyhawk. If you don't have the original NWN, wait for the gold version. it's coming out in november.
