Does anybody know if any North American game magazines will supply the demo?

Those catacombs were something else Good thing you play the fighter in the demo. Holy hack fest! But that was ok. There was a solid story behind it, dialogue and interaction ("You're testing the axe by hitting someone with it?!") and reading the books and scrolls are great (I loved the one that reads somethinge like "Magical Mishaps (or something similar): Accidently Teleporting to the Void. Why experienced mages always carry a deck of cards for solitaire").

I can see the potential in character variety. I set out to recreate a character I play in tabletop D&D... by crossing the path of the warrior with the path of the survivor I ended up with an excellent (well as far as the demo goes) swordsman with good scouting capabilities.

Hope there are more skills available at low level for the other two paths in the full version or everyone is going to have to do their best fighter imitation to get through the catacombs...

I just picked up the demo, and I think that I will say a short something here once I have finished it. (So far, so good)

I finished the demo as a level seven character who had a balance of skills from all three groups, with a focus on swordplay and meteorites.

(I did say short something)

I found the demo to be very hack n' slash, with a good voice acted story (subplots, if you will), funny "Easter eggs," (Slurred Speech and Forgetfulness: the Two Killers of Aged Wizards ) and a fair economy. I only came across one in-game bug, which occurred twice, although not a show-stopper, it forced me to re-load my last save, and one C-T-D.

I enjoyed playing the demo. It had enough combat action to make the game fun and enough story (as in the quests) to motivate me to finishing it. I was, however, a bit disappointed with the trading system. When I was exploring the Catacombs, I came across a fair number of large (and heavy) axes, each valued at 1000 to 1500 gold pieces (but none of the ones that I found were Slasher). The problem was that there were to merchants with that much gold left (after I did other shopping ). I ended up keeping the axes, and completing the game as an over-encumbered mule.

I don't think that I would buy the game today if it were available in English, not because I do not like the concept, but because of an upcoming school year.

If I had to give the demo a number, I'd say ... "around 90%"

Hmm... nothing spectacular, but decent enough. Since it would be out around 3/4Q, i would buy Gothic 2 first, then NOLF2, Unreal 2....Let see what other reviewer say about DD.

Sauron:

Slasher = Axe for the Orks ?

(It is called "Blutfresser" in the german full version.)

look for a loose Brick on the ground, where you can go down.
