Gothic 2 Add-On: Potentially Bad News?

Aside from the fact that Atari has not even mentioned 'Gothic' in today's announcement of its fiscal Q3 2004/9-months period results (<a href="http://www.rpgdot.com/index.php?hsaction=10077&newsid=25375">story</a>), the following highlighted snippet from the <a href="http://corporate.infogrames.com/corp_pressreleases.php?op=story&sid=468" target="_blank">press release</a> could mean potentially bad news for the international distribution of the 'Gothic II' add-on (at least as far as Atari is concerned):<blockquote><em>The decline in net revenues was largely attributable to lower replenishment orders over the holiday season <strong>and the Company’s decision to reduce its third-party distribution operations.</strong></em></blockquote>

That would be a pity, It is a very good add-on especially for the new landscapes, which are very nicely done and set a nice set of different moods. I cant understand why Gothic 2 isn't marketed better internationally. It was such a hit in germany that it almost single-handedly saved JoWoods from serious financial troubles. One would think such a game would be an interesting asset for any international distributor.

Agreed. It would suck. Every review professional and amateur of Gothic 2 is glowing. They should be marketing the hell out of it. Get the expansion out too!

This kind of confirms my suspicions.
I had two emails from our contact at Atari earlier this week (one I posted elsewhere here) and he has stated that Atari have "no plans to release the Add-on in the UK"

Maybe some kind of online petition that we demand the gothic 2 addon. (addicted as we are). Just to let`em see we really mean it.

I understand there's already talk of some gamers looking to recode the German version's text with hex editors and tools that come with it.

I have the English version (UK?) of the game. Is there a patch to increase the difficulty yet? Or is that only available from the addon?

Do it without the voices. Just redo the text. Much faster and cheaper. I really don't need the voices for this.
