What was your first console or computer?

My first console was Atari and my first computer was the Amstrad 1640.

1640 represents the year it was released.

I did have the artifact the ZX81 once but I fried it.

My first console was a Pong game, my second an Atari 2600, and my first 'computer' was an Amstrad PCW8256... and no, that 's NOT the year of its creation, my Amstrad is a year older than yours (i.e. from 1985).
Basically it is just a word processing machine with its processor, a RAM-disk precursor and a drive for reversible 3" floppies (not 3,5", no, those are really 3") inside the monitor casing. No HDD. No desktop casing. Just a monitor, a keyboard and a printer. Its OS is either CPM or CPM/3, I forgot which (the other one was used by our University's 'compact mainframe', while our 'big' mainframe used BS2000... yes, this was during the computer Stone Age, and we also had to learn punchcard programming).

The Amstrad and the Atari are still alive, but I gave both to my brother about 10 years ago.

I built a kit computer from Electronics Today International magazine called the ETI660. It had a 320*200 TV output, 1Kb RAM (which I extended to 9Kb with my own design) and was programmed in assembly language.

After that, a Sinclair ZX80, Sinclair Spectrum, Commordore 64...

That's pretty fancy for a first computer, Dhruin!

Mine was a VIC-20, but the C64 that came a year or two later was the one that turned me into a geek-for-life! To be honest, I wish I still had it.

I completely ignored all personal computer/console-like items after the 2600 until I bought the used PCW for writing my diploma thesis, mainly because I could do all I wanted with the mainframes at the U. I didn't like computer games very much at the time, being pretty content with what the Atari console had to offer, and there was a chess game for the PCW...

...then I saw Wolfenstein 3D on a friend's 386, and was speechless.

Needless to say I visited him pretty often after that incident, and then he suddenly had Doom...

Two days later I went to a store and bought a brand new 486 DX-2 66 with 2 MB of RAM and an incredible 170 MB HDD - my first gaming comp.

My favorite computer was my DX-4 100, it held, like, forever. My favorite console was the SNES. So many early hours after night shift spent gaming with that thing...

My first entertainment electronic was a Commodore64, after that i had a Nintendo16. I got my first "real" PC in '95. I'm still playing the Nintendo with my sister occasionally

Amstrad CPC-664. Cost a bomb, but it had a built-in floppy drive!
