First of all; create a new topic for your Avatar battles.
Personally I think Rend’s is the most fearsome

Second: Icewind Dale II

Yes, I think it will be better. You might disagree if you like a straight dungeon crawl but I like the fact that the story is supposed to be more ‘BG-like’ in the second installment. It was a little too linear in the first game. They also added Drow as a playing character which will be fun (even though I doubt it will have a great impact on the overall experience).

The only real problem I see for this game is that many consider the Infinity Engine as over the hill and that it faces stiff completion from huge games like Morrowind and Neverwinter Nights.

@EverythingXen: I started on Shadowdale. It rocks so far. Thanks for recommending it.

It's from the anime series Dragonball Z.

I have.. uh... 3 gigabytes of music videos of clips from the series on my hard drive. It lends itself nicely to pacing from everything from Enya to Slayer...

As for IWD2... I think the infinity engine isn't dead yet. I like it. As long as it get the point across, who cares what the graphics look like, really? I paly BG2 and don't say 'Man, this sure isn't any Morrowind or Gothic'. I play BG2 because it's BG2.

Stealth: Glad you like it. The entire trilogy (and the duology afterwards) is great reading for pulp fantasy.

I hope so. I bought the whole bunch

Personally I'm quite happy with IE. I still think it's one of best engines ever made for RPG’s (not from a technically point of view ). That said I think it was the right move for Bioware to move to a rotating 3D engine with NWN. (Thumps up for sticking with the isometric view).

Definately. Isometric is my favorite for a tactical combat RPG. You get to see the big picture and keep tabs of everything (including what's sneaking up behind you, if you're able to detect it).

Nothing I hate more than getting hacked up and spinning around and around trying to find my antagonist in a FP RPG.

You're not going to be dissappointed with the Avatar Trilogy, I honestly believe. But we might want to go back to the original thread or start a new one to discuss them. Once you're done reading them.

Yes, let’s start a new tread. Perhaps someone else will join in. I’ll create one as soon as I’m ready for the discussion.

Ohh.. should I create a thread in your forum or the off-topic? It’s D&D related off course but not really computer games.

In here. We can say it's related to source material garnered for creating modules in NWN. Plus, I'm the moderator.

I do. What ruined the first IWD for me was the fact that it came out only a week or two before BG2, and I played BG2 first. By the time I played IWD it seemed to be out of date and behind the times. I was just looking at the screenshots on their website; now maybe they took them at a low resolution, but they didn't look any better than the graphics in the first IWD. I'm hoping it will be a great game, but if the graphics and gameplay can't beat BG2, how are they going to compete with Morrowwind and NWN?

I think IWD2 can compete with these titles pretty well.

MW is too sprawling and unfocussed for some and lots of people are complaining about the party/henchman setup in NWN and some even say the story is uninspiring.

For those that like isometric D&D games I think IWD2, if properly executed can be one of the best. Sure the animation in the IE is outdated but the hand-drawn backgrounds are excellent. I think they make MW and NWN look a little repetitive.
