Gothic 2 FR on shelves today ! |
|
Gothic 2 french version is on the shelves as stated !
( only the manual and subtitles are in french )
More than two years and here it is !
( There's a mention on the cover : "The mythic RPG at latst in France !" )
I bet we could be able to buy the add-on somewhere in the next two years while waiting for Gothic 3 !
Anyway, thanks to Big Ben interactive. _________________ http://lanael.free.fr/dotclear |

Other details :
Yesterday, I've seen and bought Gothic 2 FR on the FNAC's shelves and NOT on the Virgin megastore's shelves. (maybe they will have it later ?)
The exe version is 1.32 ( the UK version is 1.31, huh ? ) with a broken "activate mouse" menu choice. ( I needed to hack the ini file )
Too bad, it seems there's no "no-cd patch" for this version.
The translation is really good ( no typo and good choices on words, IMO )
( I guess they had enough time to work on it ! ), so it's sad they didn't hired some french actors to record the voices... _________________ http://lanael.free.fr/dotclear |

Shouldn't you be reading "no-cd crack" there? _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."

The version 1.32 is what was released in the USA. It mainly has the Gothic.dat file German text for the journal entries fixed to read in English, and a few more typos in the general dialogs.
A year or so ago, I translated the German text into English for that fix, hex edited the Gothic.dat file data from NicoDE.
I think they may have fixed the 'armor and wearing two rings at once' bug.
I think somewhere people have used the version 1.32 in USA and the add-on will install. The German add-on EXE replaces the English 1.32 EXE anyway.
IE you can install NotR over the French version since all the French version is actually the US English version with French subtitles. Hey, wonder where they got that from?? Je ne sais pas.
Registry key entry data is different between US and UK version. Allusion: same word in English and French language. _________________ Wo ist mein Sumpfkraut? |

For me, a crack is an unofficial patch...
And a "no-cd" avoids me the assle of having to put the unnecessary CD in the drive for each game I wanna play... Games I payed around 40+ euros each !
Also : how could you be able to do the legal anti-disaster copy without them ?
I know, it's an old discussion... but you launched me on that _________________ http://lanael.free.fr/dotclear |

K, need to check. I actually have the two versions installed into two different folders ( I mean, the UK 1.31 and the FR 1.32 ).

Thanks!
Le lanuage français est beaucoup plus facile à comprendre que la langue allemande!
It was my first 'second' language taught to me in school. I am trying out the accent keyboard. I really need one for foreign languages especially the Romantic languages such as French, Spanish, and Italian.
Allusion --> Hint. in order to make the no cd work, you may have to change the registry entry keys that say US to UK and version 1.32 to 1.31.
The are basically the same EXE and it should work.

And if the game freezes when loading the VOM you know where the problem is. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Hey, a long phrase !
Nearly perfect, you should have wrote "La langue française".
But I'm very impressed ( you have the accents at the right place: this means you wrote a better french than most of the french people )

Maybe keyboards used in Quebec would be just right for you. ( I guess they are QWERTY with accents, though I never saw one. )

Funny : I'm so used to the word "hint" that I never thought about the translation !
Got it now
Anyway, I still have to try your hack ! _________________ http://lanael.free.fr/dotclear |

I thought the adjective 'French' is masculine?
As in 'Canadian French' - le français du Canada. Just north of where I am indeed.
But I see the word 'language' is feminine in French sometimes. I think if it refers to a country, then it would take the feminine form. La langue française.
As for English, it has no real feminine or masculine forms.
Countries are refered to as a person in the femine form. IE Mother Russia.
Papa Cuba?
Anyway, thanks for the heads up and Good Luck! Bonne Chance! (feminine?) I see it alot as Bon chance...oh well. Close enough for goverment work...
I tend to get the proper male/female forms wrong since I am not familiar with them. _________________ Wo ist mein Sumpfkraut? |

The adjective take the "genre" ( masculine or feminin form ) from the subject :
"La langue française" la(feminin form) -> française ( feminin form )
"Le petit français" le(masculine subject) -> français (masculine form )
and about "Le français du Canada" : here the word "français" is a noun and not an adjective. And it's the subject too.
oh, and language is an english word. langage is a french word !
Anyway, it looks like it's not the right forum for a french lesson.

Well, the short story is that some fans had already made a translation patch that replaces the relevant files Ou.cls, gothic.dat, G2fonts, menu.dat hard hack to read in French instead of English subtitles.
It was made around December 2004. It was before the G2 French release version. You can apply this hex hack pack to the English version to read in French subtitles.
Made by Klownkiller and the famous HornOx, et al.
It is NOT a patch per se. It is a text translation hex hack. Go buy a cheap US/UK copy of Gothic 2 and use this Translation Hack to read it in French.
Saves money over buying the 50 Euro official FR version. (Which has some technical issues - too expensive I guess for one ).
