that AC2 beta download is back at Fileplanet. Get it while you can, since there are only 1000 slots available, and counting down. _________________

I bid good luck for everyone who is trying to get the AC2 beta. It is worth the trouble I think _________________ =Moderator of General MMORPG talk forum=

Its not really any trouble. They fixed the automatic patcher, they fixed the lag (mostly), et cetera. The only trouble you will find is having to free up 1.5 gigs of hard-drive space _________________

My biggest problem is the hard drive thrashing all through the game. I realize its because I have ancient hard drives but no other game does it.
*sigh*
Now I just got to save up $200 in my computer fund before I can get my new hard drive. _________________ --

One hint which helped me a lot with AC2.
I have AC2 installed and even without the high resolution textures it takes *a lot of space*. WIth High resolution textures you need like 1GB more;) The game needs to access the data file quite often when you play the game and if your hard drive is fragmented it will be slow.
After you have installed the game do full defragmentation on your hard disk.
For me this helped a LOT! _________________ =Moderator of General MMORPG talk forum=

This also means that if you have 1Gb of RAM it can load all those textures into the RAM and never touch HDD again (512Mb woudl help too). _________________ (@) |

The hard-drive DOES thrash around a bunch. But when you look at the graphics, its not really surprising. My system has 512mb RAM, and it still accesses the hard-drive a lot. Also, my system is a P3 800 mhz, and the game settings still reports that I should use the lowest graphics settings. I have therefore ignored it and maxed everything out, and it runs perty sweet. _________________

I'm gonna try defraging. I still say it would be helped with a newer hard drive.
On a different note, are there any skill guides out there? _________________ --
