I'm planning to start POR 2
but Which character classes should I take?
I would prefer
1 barbarian
1 fighter
1 cleric
1 mage
but the mage & cleric would run out of spell quickly and someone said
you'll need a thief! when do you get a thief NPC?
I don't understand the multi-classing system in POR 2 !
why not like in Baldur's Gate Fighter/Thief LVL1/1?
what penalties do multi-class characters have?
how fast do they level up?
would
1 barbarian
1 fighter/thief
2 cleric/mages
be a better combination then? |

Go for the fighter/thief combination, you will need the thief, to get the good stuff, but also 2 fighters up front to stand shoulder by shoulder in the doorways, to prevent the enemies to get to your magicians! Many fights are in the underground dungeons with doors/doorways! The magician will get powerfull area spells, which are deadly to the enemies, and can turn hopeless battles into victory! The Cleric is basically needed to keep your other character alive, but can also cast a few offensive spells! |

Levelling up in this game can be painfully slow so be careful to avoid any combinations that attract the 20% penalty to experience.
My starting party that eventually beat the game were:
Barbarian
Monk
Thief
Cleric
The Barbarian later multi-classed as Fighter, the Monk as Cleric, the Thief as Ranger and the Cleric left to be replaced by a Cleric/Fiighter. You do need a thief and I found it best to start with one and build them up as quickly as possible. Very frustrating to win major fight only to not be able to open chests and claim reward.
I think that only a good balance of fighters and magic users can beat this game but there are a number of good NPCs who can reinforce and balance your party.
I would suggest you start with plenty of muscle or you may not live to get into the dungeons. |
