I believe those two are the same.
I've got the '97 UK hardback on my shelf, and it really is an excellent book, although to keep it in good condition I've got a paperback copy to read from. I bought it brand new about three years ago for something like £10, although last weekend I saw it in a cheap bookshop in Camden Town for around a fiver! The RRP inside the front cover is £25, but you should be able to do a lot better than that.
I believe we've got a spare copy around here somewhere, but it's not quite in perfect condition - slight creasing of the dust cover at the top and bottom of the spine.

The USA 1973 edition is 34,50 Euro on Bol.com
Tomorrow i will try to find it in he biggest book store in Rotterdam and if they don't have it then i will order it from bol.com

I just read the foreword of my copy of Silmarillion, written by Christopher Tolkien, it it says that Tolkien (JRR) started writing it already in 1917, but it was no more than a general story assemblage of mainly the first age, and Tolkien edited it through his whole life. Finally Cristopher Tolkien put it together after his father died. So it look like you're right, Iron Man.

 I belivie there were 4 books from J.R.R but they made so many copies of different stories inside I really don't know how many there are. |

Then you got some short stories too... About Bombadil and stuff.
That's it. That's all you'll find on Tolkien. I'm not sure, but I think good ol' J.R.R himself only published "The Hobbit" and "Lord of the Rings". The rest was published posthumously by his son, Christopher.
