Hints surface on Warren Spector's Next Game

You may recall that back in March we reported Warren Spector had founded a new studio called 'Junction Point Studios'. GameSpot speculated the studio's title might be related to the like-named 'Junction Point' that was in development at Looking Glass (<a href="http://www.rpgdot.com/index.php?hsaction=10077&newsid=36773" target="_blank">story</a>). If correct, this might infer Spector's title might be a sci-fi game with RPG elements. <br> <br>Today <a href="http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=314" target="_blank">Gamecloud</a> noticed a postion at Junction Point advertised at <a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/jobs_display.php?job_id=6344" target="_blank">Gamasutra</a> (registration required). The position is for a Graphics/Systems Programmer, with Unreal engine experience a "plus" to work on a "FRPG". Here's the company description provided:<blockquote><em>Junction Point Studios, Inc. is a new exciting company based in Austin, TX started by the game creator Warren Spector. Warren will continue his passion for the games like Deus EX, Thief, System Shock and Ultima Underworld. His new title will have features such as action combat, large scale creatures and will be in the FRPG genre. Come join this exciting new company and work with some of the best individuals in the gaming industry.</em></blockquote>

FRPG like in Fantasy-RPG or like in First-Person-RPG?

I'd love to see a new Fantasy-RPG made by Spector.

I read it as "First-Person RPG" -- like all the titles listed as his "passion".

I recall Warren mentioning at E3 that his next game was similar to a cool game shown at E3 (forget the name) featuring huge giants. I think it's the same people who made Ico. He sounded disappointment that someone else had beaten him to the punch, at least in that his game would also feature huge giants.

Personally, I'm confident that whatever Warren makes will be worth playing, but giants doesn't exactly excite me. I can see how he wants to move on from sci-fi FP RPGs though, although if I ruled the world, that's what I'd want him working on.

Another Warren Spector RPG game sounds good to me.

Guest, I think you mean Shadow Of The Colossus (flash trailer).

Lets hope he learned from Deus Ex: IW.

In other words, no more passing the design work to untalented hack underlings that dont recognize its the RPG in FRPG that made Deus Ex worth a damn.
