I've been reading through the HC set and they seem to have a random encounter script as well. I'm not sure how well it works, but I'll look into it. I'm not sure if it scales automaticly to the level of the players, so the module builder has to be more careful about what they'll set as the difficulty value of the monster. I think I'll start using HC anyway, since it adds so many needed features, especially the DM helper looks nice. It adds a lot of needed commands and features to the DM client. There is also a possibility to turn of any or all of the HC modifications, so the module builder can use any of the features needed.

I know this sounds like a shameless plug, but I'm really exited about the possibilities of this script library.

I think resting is too easy. LL told me that resting in PnP is a pain. Because you age (as I think I understood it), which effects your characters stats after a while, other party members are reluctant to just stop frivolously every few minutes to let you recharge. Resting is decided on the needs of the party rather than the needs of the individual in PnP... there's nothing like that in NWN. However, never having played a PnP game, I'm willing to accept that I'm completely off track.

Yeah. You age. The same amount as if you get a good night's sleep. Augh! That's 1/3rd of your life... wasted sleeping!

Oh... wait... that's how it is.

A spellcaster must get a good night's sleep to memorize spells in pen and paper. That's the extent of the 'aging'.

"Dammit, wizard... if you rest another 5475 times we'll be five years older! Augh! I wanted to be level 20 by the time I'm 20 years old, dammit... that way I can laugh at everyone and then cry because I have my entire life ahead of me... and no challenges remaining...."

Your landlord sounds like the kind of player I grind up and spit out when I play pen and paper. And I think part of you wishes I would...

I actually prefer games where you can rest often but your combats are heavy instead of many easy or medium encounters before you can finally rest.
and about aging..it does only affect humans right? I remember in old D&D games you aged 1 year when hasted but not in NWN?

The dropped the one year haste penalty, just like the 5 years for a wish age penalty. Consequently, haste and mass haste are hands down the most powerful spells in 3e... especially since spellcasters can now use them to cast multiple spells per round (not always a good thing if you don't know when you can rest next).
