That sums it up for me as well, GBG. Pete just gets on my nerves sometimes with the way he doles out information. There is very little know about Oblivion still. Why? I need to make an informed decision about whether to purchase this game. It's vital to know, in advance, whether my machine has a prayer of running the game. Rumors abound that the delay was caused because Bethesda couldn't get a decent frame rate on the Xbox 360. It that's the case what kind of pc will it take to run this behemoth? You just said it: Rumors. And even if they are true, there are two things to consider: First, Microsoft shipped the dev kits for the Xbox late, so they probably hand't had enough time to address the framerate issues. The second thing is that having difficulties with the xbox version doesn't necessarily mean the problems would be the same for a PC. Certainly, people are expecting too much if they think their normal gaming rig can run Oblivion in its full glory. To have excellent graphics, you will need a very good card for them. I don't doubt that Oblivion should be playable with graphics dumbed down even on a middle class computer, but they eye candy will be reserved for higher end cards and the Xbox (which IS high end card).
Then there is a chance that the processor of the Xbox has too much work to do with the game (not with the graphics), and the framerate problems that are rumored (again, nobody knows if they are true, and I haven't seen a single source that leads me to believe them) can't be cured by tuning the graphics engine. THIS would scare me, since it could mean that they would have to remove content, and if they want the game to be the same on PC and Xbox, it would mean a dumbed down game on the PC without really being necessary. _________________ Rendelius
