Strange mouse troubles, please help!

I have a weird mouse problem I need help with. When playing a 3D game such as AvP2 the mouse occasionaly pauses for a second or two then works again. While paused the game is still running smoothly and the keyboard still lets me move around. I have tried updating drivers, ect. and as its a USB mouse I've tried it in other ports, but the same thing happens.

PLZ HELP ME AS IT STILL HAPPENING!!! I LOVE THIS GAME BUT ITS MAKING IT HARD FOR ME!!!

You dont happen to have a Dell Inspiron 8000 Laptop do you? Cause if so you need to disable your touchpad mouse, and if that dont work actually disconnect it under the keyboard.
