What is that nasty thing on level 8 and how do you kill it? |
|
I'm waring Ysilde armor, and I get to level 8 to the dwarf mines and explore and this nasty thing jumps out of nowhere and kills me in one shot! What was that and since magic does not work down there, how do you kill it?

Do a search for black beast and see if you don't turn up all the answers you need. This one is detailed and has been layed out a few times. If you don't find what you need and still have questions post again. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

I found the way to take care of the black beast problem, thanks. My only question is at this point: Since you have to go past where the beast first appears to get the meat and the stone, what makes the beast come out/ I mean, does he just appear if you hang out in the kitchen long enough, or does he come out when you enter a certain hallway off of the kithen? I ask because since I have to pass this area. _________________ + A video game hero gone bad +

Once you get into the kitchen far enough down that first hall, you trigger the cut scene for the beast. No turning back at that point. Until then you could just leave. Once he shows up you follow the halls. The meat place will also give you a key for a side door to get you into the area you need to be to kill it. That also keeps the beast behind you and not pouncing on you as you go. But move fast once you have the key and meat. Hope this answers your question. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

Whoa. Yeah, once I saw that, I figured out that that level alone is pretty much once big commitment. Once you start, you can't stop moving if you are in a hallway. I had assumed that since he gets hung up and can't follow you over the platforms in the lava pit, I jumped them, he was still by the entrance, but no, he does show up in hallways past that point!
So I said, forget this for now, and went and did something more mellow like get the helm of proxellis. Maybe i'll go play with the dragon a bit before I do the beast thing just to warm up, eh? _________________ + A video game hero gone bad +

Good idea, just for the xp. You need to go to that level only after they send you to get the special sword. Wait til you get that quest. Then one hint, you have to smash the beast once. I will say no more. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

Actually, that's the quest I'm on. I figure I can dilly-dally around a bit if I want to, unless you have a time limit before ol' Akbaa causes hellfire and damnation?

No, you can do it at your leisure. Get all the xp you can now, and some of the rat men and rats will respawn for you. Not many, but a few. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

Ah, the rat men. I was really hoping that one would want to establish relations of a more freindly nature-- I did my darndest to avoid killing those poor, unfortunate souls, those hungry scavengers- Gave them every opportunity, I did. Just sat there with my Harm shield as they ran into me, frying themselves into rat jerky one after the other...
I even threw cheese at their feet! Ribs, Chicken! A smorgasbord of eats! They would'nt have it, wanted to die. Makes me feel bad. Maybe when a few of them respawn they will figure out they are the last of their breed and not attack some Ylside armor-with proxellis helm and Harm field radiating around him-looking guy? Shoot, man just the feather alone in my helmet is scary enough.
