I tried burning a avi file through nero but it didnt list the full name after burning. Is there an option where you can set it so it lists all the letters regardless of how many are used? I am running windows xp pro and I burnt many files before with even longer file names and this is the first that its ever did this to me. Thanks for any help.

If the limit you're talking about is the DOS-era 8.3 filename length, then that's because you're not burning CDs with the Joliet extension to the ISO9660 spec:

  • Click the root of the ISO project.
  • Click Edit -> Properties
  • Go to the ISO tab, tick Joliet.

However, even with the Joliet extension there are limits to the length of filenames - 64 characters I believe. There's no way of getting around these limits with standard software, as if you do so you're no longer burning a disk that other people will be guaranteed to be able to read.

Thought of making the filename shorter?
