"Dragonshards" announced

In our new ongoing effort to expand our reach into the online community Atari is choosing to pursue a very aggressive approach in regards to interacting and creating a synergy directly with the fans. As many of you have heard, the exciting new Dungeons & Dragons RTS game, Dragonshard, was previewed for the first time at San Diego Comic-Con last month by Atari and Liquid Entertainment’s Ed Kaminski and Steven Parker.

This was the first outing in our effort to get out in front of the fans and get involved. We’d like to thank all of the fans who stopped by for a demo and participated in our D&D raffle. And as promised we’ve included some photos of a few lucky fans with the games they took home. The turnout for Dragonshard was incredible, with many of the fans saying “this game is the most beautiful RTS game I have ever seen” and that “the dual-level function was so cool it’s going to change the way RTS games are made.”

So in response to many of the fans’ requests we’ve posted some of the amazing concept art here. We will have more exciting news for Gen Con this month and don’t forget to come by the booth for a demo, mingle with the designers, enter into our next D&D raffle and possibly win some games as one of our featured fans.

Lastly, if you’ve got comments or questions about Dragonshard, don’t hesitate to shoot off an e-mail and I’ll be happy to answer what I can when I can.

Unfortunately RTS is not my “thingy” (especially when you have to control whole armies). So far the only RTS game I played and I can’t say I didn’t enjoyed is Commandos series (except the third one, I hate timing missions).

O yeah I also played Robin Hood, but I didn’t like the conquering the same castles over and over again. Then there was Desperados (I liked that one), well I guess I played some RTS after all.

So if the game will be controlling battalions I will pass it, but if it will be anything like the games I mentioned I will definitely give a try, after all I’m from Toril planet. I will wait for more info.

"Dragonshard" preview at GameSpy!

The first full length preview of the Dragonshard is up at GameSpy. It's a great in-depth first look at the magic that Liquid is conjuring up for us.

I think it looks great and sounds promising and since RTS and RPG are my two favorite genres ... if this game delivers it will be a keeper for quite some time. Perhaps even a replacement for my wonderful (and sadly stolen) Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns.
