Console commands

I have somehow managed to lose (?) the SIlver Staff of Peace, which I need for my stronghold. Not having the patience of a saint, I have no intention of travelling around for the next six weeks looking for it, so I decided to use the console to insert the Staff.

However, I cannot follow the instructions. The command line uses a right-pointing arrow, and I have no idea what that is on my keyboard. I tried using the right arrow key and the tab key, but that doesn't work.

Can someone tell me how I do this? All I need is the correct key or comination of keys to create that right-pointing arrow for the command line.

Actually it's just a hyphen followed by a greater-than symbol, like this:

->

It comes from a C language construct and is very recognisable if you're familiar with it. And totally incomprehensible if you're not!

Yes, quite! It would be helpful to let us ancient ones, who haven't been raised on a diet of computers since the year dot, have a bit more information.

This is good. Once I finish my current quest in Mourhold I'll get back to Fast Eddie and get that stronghold built.

Not that I need it any more - just want to see what the darned thing looks like when it's all done. And I doo need to finish the Pilgrim quest for the Temple, so I may take some time to do that (if I can ever figure out that Puzzle Canal).

You will be certainly able to finish it. It is not so difficult.

You must die in the waters of the pool in the center of the canal to get it done. Also it's covered somewhere in this forum.
