Rogue / Mercenary

I just joined the new camp and became a Rogue. I then when to talk to Lee and he asked me what I wanted and I said freedom or something - then he made me a Mercenary. I was a Rogue for all of 30 seconds?! Is this right?

It's not normal, you can be promoted to mercenary but thats (I don't know how much time) after you killed the minecrawler queen. Maybe you can give us some more information about what you said.
