Well you should admire my boredom, because I'm bored and have nothing else to do.
The game did not work, but I might be able to do something as long as Gothic supports Hardware and Lighting. If it does perhaps I can disable it and make the game run. So tell me if it has Hardware and Lighting and if it does then tell me how to disable it.

No true hardware transform and lighting with the ati....
uses the fog table which *must* be disabled for the ati radeon
gothic.ini (zfogdisabled=1)
also latest graphics drivers must be installed.

Stay with it Abzygall - you can do it.

Well... I couldn't do anything with the ati so I bought a nvidia 5500fx and it works very well, althrough the controls are a bit weird.

Well done Abzygall - working at last!

Controls weird - look for the "gothic.htm" file in the gothic folder on your hard-drive, it explains the standard controls config's.

Hope you enjoy gothic.

All the controls are explained in JemyM´s FAQ. Recommended for right-handed players is WASD + mouse. If you have a gamepad you could try that, a lot of people say it´s the best choice.

It won´t take long until you´ll no longer notice the controls. Combat will become more fluent as your character improves.

As another control option: I'm right handed but I mouse with my left hand. For Gothic, I use mouse plus the arrow keys (between letter keys and NumPad) to move around. This works for me because I support my elbows on the arms of my desk chair and have a wrist rest build into the keyboard drawer.

As Gorath says, once you get going you cease to notice the controls and it all becomes automatic.
