Gothic does not work quite right ...

After completing Gothic 2 I went back to fool around with Gothic and found I could not interact with any of the items in the world. The Left <Ctl> key works for fighting, but I can not equip items, pick stuff up or talk to people.

Chests and books are the weirdest ... the hero sits down in front of the chest (like always) and then just stands up. Ditto for books. He goes to read the book, starts to reach for the pages, then steps back.

I reinstalled the game .. to no effect. Has Gothic 2 put something in a registry somewhere? What is going on? Any good ideas?

Edit: I realized I forgot to mention I also tried remapping the keys ... it did not work either.

Te controls for G1 is slightly different. You have to push Action (Ctrl) + Forward. Thenb it'll work.

Thanks Toaster ... it has been too long since I was playing Gothic on a regular basis!
