Vino's Still - Gate sounds like it opens, but it doesn't

I got the molerat fat to open the gate in the cave to Vino's still. I clicked on the winch and I got 400 experience points, the winch spins and the gate moves, but it never actually opens so I can get through. Is this a bug or did I do someting wrong?

Are you sure you didn't accidentally close the gate again by turning the winch backwards? I'm saying this because it happened for me once.

I don't think that's it. I've tried it several times now and watch the gate when it's moving, it just moves from one side of the wall to the other, but no space ever opens up.

Edit: I figured it out. It was opening, but only a small amount on one side that was in shadow so I didn't see it. So maybe I had been closing it and reopening it and I just never noticed.
