I was having a hard time getting into a game for quite a while. So, about a week ago, I fired up Wiz8 yet again. I still love this game! I'm playing on expert level this time just for kicks (it hasn't made much difference except that I get a LOT more "no penetration" hits). Since I was trying expert level, I didn't get terribly creative with my party:
Lizzy fighter, Human monk, Mook ranger, Elf bishop, Human bard, Elf mage
After a week, we've been to Arnika, back to the monestary, up to Mt. Gigas, and are now trying to survive the road to Trynton. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

Cool!
I always get sooo close to reinstalling the game. So often I play games and I think, this is nowhere near as cool as wizardry 8.
In fact I lurk around wizardry 8 boards just like you lol here and at ironworks.
I always think about trying like a 2 character party. A bishop and a fighter.
The only game Ive had in about the last three years that has taken more gaming time from me is age of wonders 2. So really, wizardry 8 is about my second favorite game ever. |

In expert mode, your opponents will ofcourse in general have higher levels, and much better resistance both to physical and magic attacks. Using the famous Asphyxation Spell maybe kills 50 -70 % of the enemies on the first try, when your character is beyond level 22 and you play in "normal" mode, but in "Expert" mode you should be satisfied with 10 -20 % instant kills. _________________ Moderator on RPGdot.com Forum.

This must make game very difficult. Later were these instant kill spells only way how to reduce members of strong groups to acceptable level. |

I played on expert the only time i played all the way through.
I could only instant kill anything after i cas hex on them. I dont think it was even hitting the 10% you said.
Magic is pretty weak in the wizardry 8 Im used to. |

OK, here's a question for everyone:
I killed Rattus Rattus on the Trynton Road just because it was a pleasant thing to do. The downside of that is the Razuka are hostile now. Milano and Don Barlone both attack me on sight. Now, aside from the fact that Don kicks my butt at this point in the game, if I somehow managed to kill him would I be totally screwed? I haven't gone to the swamp to get the visit from the Dark Savant, and I can't get the deal from Don Barlone because he attacks on sight. Does this mean that I wouldn't be able to get the AD? _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

Reload from a previous save, go the swamp and meet Savant-boy, then go axe the Don. He should drop it as treasure. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

Planning on doing just that, but I was curious if this was a game-killer bug that I've stumbled upon. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

No the game functions. The don has the astral dominae even if you kill him out of story sequence. He just doesnt offer it for sale.
If he is hostile you just must kill him now. No need to go back to an older save. |
