Quest For Glory 2 (Remake): Latest News @ Official Site

My thanks to Val for pointing me in the right direction...AGD Interactive, in addition to their excellent remakes of the old Sierra classics, King's Quest I and II, are in the process of wrapping up their Quest For Glory 2: Trial By Fire remake as well - you can read all about it here (just click on the "click here for designer journals" link in the "Recent Developments" section)...

Just a quick update to inform everyone what's been going on behind the scenes at AGDI. In the past month, programming has continued sporadically as we've been juggling our schedule between QFG2VGA and certain duties required by our commercial project at Himalaya Studios. As far as QFG2VGA is concerned, we've reached that very familiar stage in development where everything very slowly starts coming together! We now have the 'structure' of the game finished which is fully playable from beginning to end (with all three character classes, I might add).

However, with the complexity of the game comes the capacity for glitches. This means we still have an enourmous to-do list to contend with. Said list contains multitudes of bugs, graphical touch-ups, small additions, fatal errors, and text edits -- all which must be addressed before QFG2VGA can even be considered for alpha testing status. As we've always maintained, we want this remake to be of the highest quality and we'll release it only when we feel it has met our expectations. Once again, allow us to assure all of our loyal fans that the wait will be well-worth it. Progress is being made regularly, and the remake will contain tons of interesting surprises -- even for seasoned Quest for Glory fans! A thorough development schedule ensures a more stable and fully-featured end product.

Val - you'd be right there with Becky insofar as my gaming companions re your love of the old Sierra QFG series - Becky might even talk to you if you know something about NASCAR as well:-)

I've seen it in action and it's really something. The combat is going to be a lot of fun and they've stuck to the style well. Also, importing characters and exporting them has been maintained.

Some of my favourite gaming memories are the QFG series; I still have my old saved chars. I actually bought my first PC just so I could play QFG2. Up till then everything was on my C64!! Ah, the good old days!!

I got a pc for qfg1 (then Heroe's quest). Two was a great game also. I remember making the wish near the end was a huge deal (for me at least). I really liked typing in my own responses, I think that was half the fun of the old sierra games.

It's not an effort when you replay the games every once in awhile. I still have an ancient comp that I have set up specifically for my old games. Thus, I can journey into the worlds of Quest for Glory, Ultima, and Star Control whenever I want.
