hey does anyone know if the gothic mod is playable if you dont understand german or would it be too hard to play? id appreciate if someone would get back to me asap thanx |

Hi,
I think our Mod would be hardly playable if you canīt understand the dialogues or read any books.
It would be hard work to translate any written texts to english, and also find good english speakers to tranlate all dialogues.
But Maybe I will publish the "Meteo-Dimension" which is part of our mod as a mod on its own. There are hardly any dialogues and few texts.

Who said I can`t understand german?
I am ONE of the persons who worked on "Die Bedrohung", and my german is much better than my english though

man i wanted to play the mod gothic kicks ass it would be great to continue playing it. guess that cant happen though:( especially since my school doesnt teach german and i have less than 2 months before i grad anyone lol *sigh* no more gothic *cries* |

We were thinking about the correct translation of the title "Die Bedrohung" when Moriendor posted the newsbit. The suggestions in the the dictionaries (threat, menace) are somewhat weaker than the German word 'Bedrohung'.
A nice title would be "Impending Doom". |

Thank you.. it would surely help if someone could translate the most important texts, like Dialogues, Books etc.
But does anybody want to record new speeches for all dialogues? Or should we publish the english version with german speeches/english texts or text-only?
I`m working on a new mod, like said some posts above.
I`ll make one exclusive World with some new NPCs and take the Meteo-Dimension from "Die Bedrohung".
I could finish this till next week, it is not so hard to do.

You can use translation software, then correct it.
And for the dialogue, subtitles should be sufficient.

"Impending Doom", hmmm, now where have I heard that before ?
Translation software is terrible. It will take you much more time to correct auto-translated stuff than do the translation from scratch.
If you need help with the translation, Malek, I could do some stuff for you as well.

Talking of which - I was going to tie up a few loose ends with VisiGothic. Would any of you native German speakers be interested in producing a German version? (Text only.)
