Anyway to make Gothic look a little better?

I just got finished with Gothic 2 and loved it. I was so amazed I went and got gothic 1 for the background story. I was told it was the same engine but wow the graphics are quite a bit worse.

It runs smoothly but the textures kinda seem washed out and blurry. Anyway to fix this? Or just should I just tough out the bad graphics ? I feel so spoiled by gothic 2 now

You could increase the resolution to make everything look a little sharper but it makes the menu and inventory really small

I learned to live with Gothics dated graphics. Hey, they were alright for 2001 (when it was originally released)!

Actually, I prefer the simpler graphics. All that new vegetation just gets in the way.

I think there is a patch that brightens up the sky, which would help a bit with the bleakness. I don't remember exactly where to find it but I think the site that host the new Durricc mod has it.
thats about it.
later, rordog

Thanks! that sky patch made things a bit better.

AT night time I don't even notice the difference in graphics much. The storyline in this one adds so much to the environment I'm not even noticing the worse graphics at this point

Thanks for all the advice all, Great game. Glad I was able to hunt it down finaly

How Gothic can and should be tweaked to run faster and with better graphics has been explained many times before. Search for 'FPS patch' or similar.
