Heh, some german text still left in Gothic 2 english version

I learned to skin animals and my journal says something in German. Everything else is in English.

I'll post a screenshot when I get home from work.

Guess they were in a hurry

The real question is...How did PB's QA miss this...too much schnapps floating around in the QA dept.? I hope they release a fix for this, my english copy will be arriving in two days. After last night, I think I have a bootleg copy of the German ver.

QA is the publisherīs job. I donīt think PB has an intrnal testing department. Only bigger German developers like Ascaron (Sacred, Port Royal) and Sunflowers (Anno NNNN) have internal testers.

I love Babelfish - http://babelfish.altavista.com It really helps us schmucks (me), that didn't bother to learn any language other than English.

By the way, Tieren das Fell abziehen generally translates to The skin removed from animals.

This kind of thing really pisses me off. Its not just this entry, its a ton of them that are like this. No excuse for this at all, and I hope that its patched quickly, even though it wont be soon enough.

I don't know if it's even possible to make a great patch, because your entire journal is stored in your save game. For instance, if you have the German "skin animals" phrase, try search the phrase "Tieren das Fell abziehen" in the file SAVEDAT.SAV. I don't know if they'll make a patch FOR your save games.

Well, they can force you to start a new game once you have the new patch (as they did in German v1.30). But, some people will become VERY upset for this.

I'm not sure if the game will "edit" the journal entries. Seems to me that it simply "adds" the journal entries, regardless of what was written in the journal in the past.

If the game "adds" the journal entries instead of "edit" them, then the journal text will stay in the save game permanently unless the patched game can parse the save game. This means that normally, the recorded journal text will not change the next time you play. I'm not really sure if this is true though.

I don't have a programming background, so I might be terribly wrong. So, don't feel sad.
