This is indeed very good news. Now lets just hope that Infogrames has fixed it's release date for sooner rather than later. After all, it's been a long wait, don't you think?

Most titles I have seen released from Infogrames usually come out rather quickly whence they have made an announced title.

Infogrames is very effecient at getting titles out quickly, I would believe May 30 or begin of June can be expected.

They generally only publish finished, proven games that will sell quick; especially little unknown jewels that never saw the light of day to generate a quick decent income.

You can read the news about the Infogrames deal on Piranha Bytes' Gothic II site:

Does it mean that GII Addon and GIII will be distributed by Infogrames as well?

I don't believe these guys. First they don't update their site for 2 months,
Then they put a louzy apologize announcement, and now, they announce only one thing, their deal with infogrames. All we people want to know, is when the damn game is gonna be released!!!!!

Sorry, Jaz, i'm just really pissed off at these guys, i've been waiting like..forever.

Nordic Barbarian: So you'd rather read the announcement, 'Sorry, nobody wanted to buy the rights for the worldwide release of Gothic II so the game won't be out in your country, bye and take care!'?
No company will be able to a) buy a game one day and b) have it on store shelves the next day. Being angry won't help the condition.

Actually I think this situation has probably turned out for the best, although only time will really tell. Yes, it would have been nice to play G2 a few months ago but that would have meant JoWood had proceeded with international distribution and my guess is the sales would have been modest.

With a bit of luck under Infogrames control G2 may well be more successful which Piranha Bytes deserves. In turn, this makes it more likely that future PB games might attract a major publisher.

So for the sake of a few months delay, PB should get far more recognition which might allow them to make even better games that will reach wider audiences in the future. Really, that's a pretty good deal even if a few fans got bent out of shape.
