No, I think you're a famous painter named Heinrich van Der Schöönkült. But I could be wrong. It has happened before even though it sounds utterly strange, I know. _________________ CaptainWorshipperNonFlamer

I agree rules are important, and you state some good examples. I would like to piont out, though, that D&D from 1st ed to 3rd has been a breeding ground for 'house rules', there are a myarid of house rules of cardgames, and driving a car is dangerous because people do dirve over the speed limits, run stop signs and red lights, and pass in no passing zones. After working in law-enforcement for a short time, five years, I realized just how many people dont obey motor vehicale codes in every country I have worked in.

Wouldn't any language become unreadable when nobody would adhere to the rules?
Yes and no. Language require rules to be understandable, but those rules are constantly changing. Old english, middle english, and modern english each have thier own rules, but because of strict adherence to rules, but to the evolution of usages and changes in the culture that warrent changes in speaking habits.

We can't survive without rules. Rules are an essential part of our life. Without rules there would be anarchy. That said, at times we could do with less rules to make us all happy. I just added a new one today.
I agree, I agree...we need rules, but only in moderation, no person whats to obey codes that they feel are too strict, or unfair. Many rules benfit those with special knowledge or social postioning more than the masses. In the case of grammer, the special knowledge becomes unatainable by most people who, like myself, are under educated. Therefore strict grammer rules only benfit the few that can gain that knowledge, and the rest disregard it as being important. Making rules strict will not fix the problem, it will only further disempower and build resentment in those who dont have a good grasp of the rules already. That said, I know my grammer is horrible, but I have been working on improving it this year. I do regard public measage boards to be informal, and therefore I am not bound to hold to any strict rules of grammer, and often I dont. What makes a community like RPGDot possible isnt a strict adherence to grammer rules, but a adherence to a well layed out plan of rules, and good moderaters*. If the grammer rules where strict, only a few people would be able to post here, and esp. those for whom english is a second language would be left out. Which would be a shame, considering they are reaching to out to learn a language and enjoy its use beyond what they required to for normal life outside of formal learning.
