I agree with the last statement. Has anyone ever put a constant effect on a weapon and what did you do?[/quote]

Describe an instance of constant effect please.

What spell(s) and item did you use and what was the result?

I use an enchanter, it isn't too cheap, but money I have. My enchant skill is maybe 40, but trying an enchant that complex always destroys my soulgem. Anyways here is what I do after I have a trapped Golden Saint:

Lets say we want to make some boots with water walking constant effect
Goto an Enchanter
(even try persuading them, maybe this has an effect, you will get a better deal anyways)
Select Enchanting
Select whichever item you want to Enchant, in this example some boots
Select the Soulgem to Use, 80K Grand Soulgem with Golden Saint
In the bottom left of the window, click the button that says Cast On Use, until it shows Constant Effect
Select the Spell you want to use, it must be a spell you purchased from a Mage, for this example, water walking

A new window will popup, for this Water Walking spell it is really easy, just click to cast on Self and there is no parameters when dealing with Constant Effect. For other spells you will have to configure magnitude, duration, and range. Click OK when everything is configured

Type in a name for it or just use the default
This spell should cost 12k or so
Click OK
You now have boots with constant Water Walking effect

wow...only 12k...it cost like 5 times more just to get a cast when use. I am guessing that I can buy a spell that gives me like fortify agi for some time and use that to get a constant effect enchant. If this is correct...then golden saint hunting I am going.

Thanks! Now... not to be spoilerish, but what/where is Golden Saint?

PM me if you don't want to post it here...hate to get this thread moved to spoilers.

How to fill gems?

I'm having a problem with filling soul gems. I had a bunch of Gem Feeder scrolls, 1 Petty Gem and 4 Lesser Gems. I've tried casting the Gem Feeder on a target, then killing it in ten seconds, to no effect. I've tried casting Gem Feeder on a fresh corpse, to no effect. What am I doing wrong? From memory the targets I tried it on were an Ancestor Spirit and a Lesser Bone Walker.

As I understand it all you have to do is cast Soultrap (which is what the Gem Feeder scrolls are) on a target, kill them while the spell lasts, and it automatically fills the smallest gem in your pack. When I took the Ancestor Spirits and Bonewalkers the first times the smallest ones were the Lesser (dark blue) gems.

What gives?

I have a high personality and the enchanter really likes me so it is cheaper. You can enchant Fortify spells into items. I am still looking where to buy Fortify spells though. It's be great to have 200 strength

The location of Golden Saints isn't too spoiler'ish, they can be found at Daedric Shrines or throughout the wilderness as the game progresses.

If you're casting the Gem Feeder scroll, you'll know you hit them when a white ring type cloud surrounds them. After you kill them, it will tell you if you captured a soul or not. A soul will fill a soulgem depending on the value of the soul, not fill the smallest soulgem. I am not sure if higher value souls will go into lesser soulgems, haven't tested that.

Soul trapping is automatic (thanks bethesda).
I carry around all types of soul gems and the gem used will be according to monster value. Kill rat, soul goes to petty soul gem. Kill Saint, soul goes to grand soul gem. And so forth...

I am lv 25 and thought that golden saints could only be found in certain areas that someone stated above. I just took my toon and started running around the continent (beacause I was bored) and when I was on the north eastern side of the map I was just running into all kinds of golden saints so I am pretty happy. I will get my mysticism up and go back for a grand soul gem buffet.

One little trick is that you can soul trap immediately after killing something. So instead of worrying about defeating a critter while the spell is in effect, just finish it off and cast soul trap right away. That took a lot of frustration out of the process. The window is relative short (a few seconds at most), and I think you have to do it before you access the creature's inventory. As long as you have a soul gem that is large enough, you will get your soul.

It would be nice if enchanters would let you trade in another unused soul gem toward the cost of getting some item enchanted. Anyone know if a mod could allow this?

I have been going around trappning Golden Saints so now I just have to get some kind of restoration spell to fortify certain stats and I can use them to add that attribute as a constant effect.

Is this true?

Grand Soul Gems

Hi all,

I'm a lvl 37 Breton Warrior Mage and have been enchanting for awhile now, just curious what enchants you guys are using and what you are finding works best or some cool ideas you may have. Myself I have the following enchantments (*may not want to read, may be spoiler to some*):

Constant effect restore health on shield to restore 1-2 points. I can fight some creatures and just sit still and my health stays the same because I regen faster than they can damage me (114 armour rating).

30-40 Shock on Detric Katana: Could have made it stronger but this way with golden saint soul I have 400 charge so I get about 100 hits before it's drained. Yet I can kill most stuff in 1 to 3 hits. i think golden saint takes about 5 to 8 hits.

Water walking amulet. Constent effect on water walking, slap this ring on and toad ring jump over water like the wind.

Soul Trap ring: bind it to a quick key and have it enchanted to 90 secs, thus I just hit quick key 3 times (in case it fails once) and have soul trap cast around being in no time.

Constant effect summon ancestral ghost ring: This is kinda cool and wish I could get item that held more then I could use storm antroch. But I have constant effect on a extravegant ring with summon ancestral ghost. I put on ring and ghost appears and always follows me around and no one can seem to kill it?

Tried creating constant effect levitate, but game screwed up, made constant clicking sound and didn't work properly. let me know if anyone has this working...

What items do you find hold the most enchant??? i.e. extravegant ring holds 60. But constaqnt effect on storm antroch needs something like 300... Would be kinda cool to create 2 rings one with constant effect summon golden saint the other with constant effect summon storm antroch, and always have these thugs walking around with ya. Even though I am invincible being solo anyways...

Hmm have others but can't think of all of them right now....

Rob H.

PS. Also, I am running out of Grand Soul gems please post where you all are finding them. Thanks.

Exquisite ring and amulet hold 120/240 and that is maximum that I found so far. I would also be interested in where to find greater soul gems...

This much is correct, but it is possible to get this much available points on an item. A good exampke is the Daedric Dai-Katana. Mine had 171 points available when I have only 25 points of enchanting... I'm gonna assume that at ~50 enchanting skill the Dai-Katana would hold ~300 pts of enchantment. Not an impossible feat . I'm saving up to build my skill and going to put a constant strength boost effect on it so I can wield the 60 lbs sucker

Okay, well after a weekend of trying to do everything that you all told me to do...I couldn't do a damn thing

I have lots of golden saints and lots of armor and weapons to enchant but when I take my stuff to an enchanter, I can't ever get the button to "constant". I tried every single spell available to see if that helped, and even boosted her disponsition to 100.

Are you all going to a certain enchanter or what because this sucks.
