NCsoft reveals Dungeon Runners

Last week we reported an item about NCsoft developing a new dungeon-crawling title with some confusion over exactly what that meant. 'Dungeon Runners' has now be partially revealed at a Taipai event - no gameplay details but Worthplaying has the first screens.

This will is almost certainly an online title so future coverage will likely be at MMORPGDot.

Anyone else seeing WoW there?

If it was for bitmap graphics I'd say they ripped their maptiles

I think it should be a single player and multi player game but not MMO, or just not a large scale MMO (Similar to NWN). The graphic style looks like WoW (Cartoonish) and that River of Gold area reminds of Diablo 2 act 4...

I'll be looking forward to it.

Nice screenshots and I like the camera angle, might be worth keeping track of. Pity it is not turn based.

Another game out of Asia with androgynous characters that carry oversized weapons. Joy.

Not a racist comment at all, I am Japanese and I cringe at the all the silly anime we produce these days. Anime of old was unique depending on the artist or studio that made it.

Now there are some rules you must follow:

a) Make sure nobody can quickly discern gender.
b) Make this more difficult by making every character with long, blond hair. (male and female) NOTE: Of all the few billion people in Asia, none were born with naturally blond hair.
c) All weapons must be oversied and completely unpractical looking.
d) Armor. See c)
e) All characters must be young and angry at the world.

Add to this the MMOG rules:

a) USE ! ? over NPCs because WoW made people dumb.
b) Kill 4 million * X to reach the next level.
c) Add nothing else to the game but Killing X's, levelling up and looking "cool"

And the result is more derivation for your money.

Nonsense. Vaan doesn't have long hair.

Touche, abbaon.

By the way, is that really Vaan or is it Cloud in disguise?

I agree - the "Full Metal Alchemist" look of all these games is a bit unfortunate, but some of them look real good. Namely Fable, the new upcoming "Zelda" and the upcoming "The Roots". Or maybe not - I've never actually played Fable so you never know...
