Sorry CT, cant think of one at all.....

If either of you had a PS2 then that wouldnt be a problem as the Baldurs Gate game is an excellent cooperative game..

Regards,

Dont know of any PC ones specifically. But get yourself a hold of ZSnes and a copy of Secret of Mana 1 or 2 and you can play LAN co-op with that.

The 1st one is one of the best action RPG's of all time.

You might find some really old games that have that feature.
And I mean OLD, like abandonware old.

Just remembered that Baldurs Gate & Diablo supports co-op.

Yes, some SNES games can be played on one screen. Secret of Mana might indeed be a good choice.

If you don't mind a pure Action game, you could try Serious Sam 2. It's an action action game, if I may say so, and has examplary multiplayer support. Most importantly in your case: You can play cooperatively, and in splitscreen with up to 4 players. Whether that's playable or not I can not say, as I've only played it over the net..

I think there should be more games that support gaming on one machine.

Back in the Year 1989 there was a CRPG called "Bloodwych" from Mirrorsoft. It had a Split-Screen, so two Players could play it at the same Time on one Machine. It was a Dungeoncrawl like Dungeon Master or Eye of the Beholder. You can get it on Abandonware-Sites, but the Graphics are by todays Standards horrible ugly.

So around 1991 was a 1:1 Conversation of the Board-Game "Hero Quest" by Gremlin, IIRC there was even an Expansion Pack. It was turn-based, up to four Player could play it (Hot-Seat).

I don't know any other CRPGs since then, that allowed more Players on one Machine.

Most of todays CRPG can be played with multiple Players, but you need a Local Area Network or Internet (and usually one Game-Disk and CD-Key per Player). I would recommend Diablo I and II, Neverwinter Nights, Icewind Dale and Darkstone, my friends and I had a Blast playing this Games on LAN.

Oops, I didnt notice "Single PC"

Well at least the SNES comment still stands...

On the subject of emulation, there is also an excellent RPG'ish action game for the Commodore Amiga called Hired Guns. You can play multiplayer co-op on that too.

It has been a common complaint of many people about the lack of single machine multiplayer games on the PC. I guess they just think if you can afford a PC, then you can afford a LAN. Which is obviously ridiculous.

Then again, huddling more than one person around a monitor isnt anywher near as nice as on a big couch in front of the TV.

Kind of off topic but.... is Darkstone for the PC better than the PSone version?

They didnt so much forget, more like ignored.

Multiplayer on a single PC just isnt a big selling point anymore. Everyone either plays online or just plays console games instead.

eXACTLY.. the don't care, that is I think, more people in the High Pastures (North America, Europe, Etc) have More access to Pcs, than Here (Latin America) so for the devs there, there is no Point anymore, to make a Single PC Multiplayer Game, if they can do it OnLine/Lan, is like Life itself, When There is No Need, No Need.. , thats why they Include it In console Games (there was a Need, 'cause at least, the Console have More Joysticks From Factory,... Maybe, and they weren't all Online ) as an example of This, NFSHP2, BG series, Etc.., a pity

Who would want to play BG with a friend on one compter??? It would be horrible, I can imagine. As with most advanced RPGs. That's probably why developers want to spend more time on important things like more advanced multi-player features.
