MSRP = Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price..
I work closely with the sales dept at work, (www.e-g-i.com) and we use those abbrevs a lot..sorry!!

I didnīt get the M in MSRP
What is the normal price for a new retail game in the USA? In Germany itīs 80DM Appr. 36$. I bought Gothic for 69DM (31$). The lowest I heard was 59DM. German prices allways include 16% VAT. |

approx retail here for must new games is about $49.99..depending upong the game of course..they sometimes come out at $39.99, or less, if they're real bargain bin material, (the Deer Hunter games, etc.) then they may come out at $14.99.
We here in the states pay a tax, usually based on the state we live in. Here, i think it's 7%..
But we have nasty income taxes here at year end. Does Germany have income tax at the end of the year??
Anyway..that's it..back to the demo for me..

Latest infobits:
1.
Eurogamer.net 9/10/01:
"[...]Now JoWood have confirmed to us that they should be releasing Gothic in the UK some time during November.
[...]"
2.
PB changed the text on their site (see above) from "...announce the publisher..." to
"...announce a publisher for the English version..."
3.
From reading between the lines in a thread on WoG I guess, PB have a publisher and at least one of the Fanpages knows the details, but there is a NDA.
4.
PB is reportedly doing massive PR overseas. Mags, sites (e.g. justadventure.com)... |

Well, that's a really interesting and exciting situation here:
PB assured me, that JoWood will NOT publish Gothic, because the deal between PB & JoWood does not appeal Gothic, which still belongs to Egmont Interactive, who don't have a deal with JoWood, but PB also told me, that the publishing deal with anoth company is almost finalized.
On the other hand, JoWood assured me, they WILL publish Gothic by the end of 2001 and also still have it on their website as the titles they'll do in 2001.
I am confused and decided to sit back and relax to see things happen...
Maybe we will have two Gothics by two different publisher very soon
And as for Wizardry 8 - the publisher is going to announce (& release) it before the end of 2001, that's all Sir Tech wanted to tell us...
Also here, sit back and relax, Sir Tech assured us and everyone else Wiz8 IS coming!

Yes, the situation is very interesting.
Immersing ourselves in speculations we can combine the facts in away that PB and JoWood are both somewhat right;-) :
-JoWood will publish Gothic in the *UK* in november.
-JoWood lists G as Q4/01 release. But not as Q4 _worldide_ release like WW III!
-PB said (a few weeks ago?) JoWood will not publish G. (Did you ask PB about publisher or worldwide publisher?)
-PB is/was in negotiations with another publisher.
-PB wanted to announce "the" publisher for the English version soon after the ECTS.
-Now PB wants to announce "a" publisher...!
If PB distinguishes between English (UK) version and US version we have a compromise including another publisher.
