Bloodrayne in October's Playboy

Bloodrayne and several other popular (and unknown) 'women' of video games will be 'posing' in October's issue of playboy.

I guess it's the next logical step towards publicity. They already sell the game based on deep throat moans, seductive posing, and scantily clad toons. Why not take it all off?

Still....

Sad. Truely sad that they have to do this to get publicity.

It's explained in the CNN article...

Basically, the average gamer is male and between 25 and 35 nowadays (apparantly).

The average playboy reader is male and in that range as well.

It's excellent marketing on the part of the developers of Bloodrayne. Guys who read playboy but don't play games may get curious about games after the article. Guys who don't normally read playboy but play games and are curious may buy the magazine.

It's still funny as hell... but I am curious about the article accompanying the pictoral. That means the 'buzz' is working as the people who released the story to news would hope... though I have no intention of buying the issue.

I have only to admire the marketing guys at Majesco? for this move. And hope that the game is good enough, sales go well and there is more of the same. And hope that the movie is not that bad, since we all know who the director is.

Basically the movie has 2 major problems - 1 is Uwe Boll, and the 2nd (which comes directly after the 1st one) is the script they are actually filming. It cannot be more terrible.

I still want to read the article, somewhat. While I certainly have no problem flipping through a playboy (the appeal of topless women to which I have no emotional attachment has long since been burned from my mind by over-exposure while growing to maturity in europe) I do have a problem with flipping through a playboy in a bookstore where youths and children could be present. And I'd sooner gargle iodine than go to a 'specialty' store.

Probably just some crap on how games aren't just for children any more anyways.
