Great... now we'll lose everyone in the confusion... heh.

This wasn't in the CRPG forum? Where was it... Off Topic? You'd think people would have figured it out by now...

Yes it was off topic. We have now nice feature - leave shadow topic in current folder - this will make people not lost (where is my nice topic?).

Why? WHY?

Everyone keep to compare Arcanum and Dungeon Sige?
Arcanum is a deep and pure RPG game, while
Dungeon Siege is more of a hack n' slash game.
They are so different... its like comparing Gothic with Max Payne. :p

i agree with that. i own both DS and Arcanum. they are nothing alike. I am a very picky player: Dungeon Seige is cool graphic-wise and action-wise, while i loathed Arcanum (didnt like the setting -- i hate steamworks and that crap); but those two are nothing alike. DS is really fun, lots of action, tons of different monsters, tons of items, tons of spells. There are so many spells that i doubt i will ever use most of them. The graphics are sweet, but not as good as Morrowind. Morrowind is the best game this decade i think. but thats just my opinion

Heh. I can't help wondering why you would by a game called 'Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura' if you don't like steamworks and such.

Arcanum or DS? Both games were pretty fun but I liked Dugeon Siege way more. I felt that Arcanum had some really boring periods where all you could do was persevere until something good happened.

They're both good games and you'll probably be happy with either one, however, They are completely different. Directly comparing DS and Arcanum is pretty difficult. They both have the same top down view and a similar feeling interface but that's about all that's the same.

Umm, could you be more specific?
I have not yet found anything "boring" with Arcanum, you always
have quest todo, new areas to explore...

She doesn't need to extrapolate on a feeling. If she felt it, she felt it. I felt Dungeon Siege going stale halfway through hacking through the annoying camps of kurgs or whatever they're called getting to the end of the demo. Run, slash slash, chug chug, slash, chug, slash, chug...

Thanks Xen, I'll try to answer it anyway.

I don't think I can be more specific. You're right there were always quests to complete. These quests didn't really get my attention though. I don't know, they just didn't seem overwhelmingly interesting and dragging myself around those towns! I could have screamed I was so frustrated. Having to go back and forth across the map over and over bothered me too.

All I know for sure is that I would fall asleep while I was playing Arcanum. It's the only game I've ever finished that put me to sleep so it was obviously intriguing enough for me to complete.

I knew you'd call me on this Rawis, that why I put "I felt" in bold, so everyone would know I was just talking about me.

BTW Xen, I can definately see how DS could get stale. It did seem to develop a certain... sameness after a while. It was still my favorite of the two games, though. I can't help it, I just liked it better!

Your very very right.

What character did you play as?

My character is a halfling, he is a thief, level 30. Guess if he is fast with the Dagger of Speed?
