ok I checked out DS in-depth:
Yea, its a really REALLY good looking 3d Baldur's Gate. And judging by the name and the majority of screenies Im seeing, its looks like its 95% battles and all of them in dungeons. Not my cup o tea right now.
I wanna see those crazy minute details like in Gothic:
*People washing up in the morning by the River (blew my mind)
*People yawning as they wake up.
*To be able to walk the camp and have conversations with the locals that might/might not lead to something new
*Make my own weapon (Nice touch)
*Cook my own food (nice touch/esp the +7 bonus to health after its cooked)
*Watching daily life go on around you (Cooks going off to cook, Guards going off to train, diggers off to dig)
*Watching reaction from NPCs depending on what you are doing (Going into a hut, Creeping up on them, drawing a weapon)
*Sleeping til next morning in the SC and running up the hill to see Cor Drak and his templar coming home from the mines every morning like clockwork hehe
*The finishing moves on NPCs (Love it!)
*The "other" skills (Hunting and thieving) which could allow you to play the game without actually being a warrior or archer
too much more to list.
Anyway, the more I check out other games, the better Morrowind starts to look
(figures I got a 4 mo wait)

yeah ds sux ass, its also made by microsoft so you just KNOW its going to have bugs that an expansion will patch for $39.99, and if you go on morpheus and watch movies from it, the controls are REALLY wierd. I saw the little mouse pointer click like 20 things before he got one guy to take 3 steps to the left and fire an arrow...

Morrwow wind is so much better, just like all the elderscrolls series, its basically gothic with the option of firstperson, and better graphics. And as someone else in this forumn said, its going to have an easy interface map editor / creator. So once you totalyl finished it like many have done with gothic, you will be able to recreate your own worlds, quests, etc...

another good rpg might be shadowbane... (keep an eye on it)

It's interesting u know how a game will be b4 u play it urself... very interesting, anyhoo DS has alot of promise, you can create your own stuff and make new maps and what not, they'll even have tuts on it.... Because you hate MS don't spread hatred here.... also Morrowind it's spelt btw will be big yes because of the press hype, but those who remember Daggerfall was plagued with bugs because of the immense world.... both games will have strong runnings but they're not exactly in the same category, Shadowbane shows much promise also

it always amazes me peeps that dog things b4 they try them.... anyhoo

Dungeon Siege is better compared to Diablo or Darkstone than Baldur's Gate. It's a pure hack-n-slash action-"RPG". You know, the click-fest variety.

daggerfall had at most. as many bugs as gothic does, at least if you get the game from a cd and not stolen off soem warez site.

and i do know how elderscrolls III will be because i played the second and first elderscrolls game and they were both similar and in many ways (good ways) and different in others (again, in good ways), therefor the 3rd of the series should be the same, and most likely will.

and to further explain what ds is said to be like (since ms is describing it, the real thing will be twice as bad)it would have control of your party similar to fallout tactics, but you would be up against endless enemies much like diablo.

And since ds is going to be mainly for xbox, it will have way toned down graphix and details t oaccomidate the xbox. As porrf of what i mean go to http://www.3dactionplanet.com/halo
and compare the games screenshots when it was exlusively for the pc (has an actual part of the halo shaped planet looming up into the sky) to the crappy smoothened out blotchy look of the xbox screens (no halo or details or any good stuff)

Ds is also not going to be open ended or free at all, if you look at interviews will HAVE to do set quests to get on in the game. So d2 is going to be a confusing 3d diablo

That's the most LUDACRIS THING I've ever read, why would they do something like that man? use you're head

and like I said these to games are NOT in the same category...

You have an obvious hatred towards MS but yet you play games on the PC with WINDOWS... oh brother

BTW microsoft IS NOT making Dungeon Seige.

Chris Taylor ( the Guy who made Total Annihilation ) and his Crew At Gas Powered Games Are making this game.

Microsoft is the Publisher. and they are supplying test labs, money, beta testers, etc.

talking about bugs , and controls ? you have not even played a demo of this game yet . how can you put it down?..

just keep your eye on it, when released , play the demo, then you can talk, what you like

Here's a list of why Morrowind beats every other game out there, in my opinion. The topic's come up so many times that I finally just decided to write it all out. Even if you don't think it'll be better than Gothic or whatever your current favorite is, I think you'll probably agree that it nevertheless looks fantastic.
Check http://www.elderscrolls.com for the codex and forums if you want more information.

Features:
--Play the game in 3rd or 1st person view. Switch between the two whenever you feel like it.
--The controls are completely customizable; bind your own keys if you wish.
--The engine will support real-time weather effects, including ash storms. Sweet!
--Day will dawn and night will fall. There will be cycles of Tamriel's moons as you walk the sands of Morrowind. Clouds will pass over the sun. (If I remember correctly, clouds will also cast shadows on the landscape, though I'm not sure so don't quote me on it yet.)
--You can create your own spells in the game, combining hundreds of different effects to do what you want to do.
--The designers made an effort to give combat a kinetic feel, sort of like in Thief or SS2.
--There will be a powerful editor included with the PC version of the game, allowing you to easily tear apart the game and put it back together however you like it. If you install a plug-in, and it's screwing up your game, all it takes is a click to remove it.
--There is near complete non-linearity. You can follow the complicated and fascinating main quest if you like. You can try to find out what caused the mysterious disappearance of the Dwarves, you can seek the reason for the dark cloud hanging over Morrowind. But if you want to, you can also just say "screw it" and wander off on your own exploring the detailed and intricate landscape.
--All of the 1000-2000 NPCs will be hand-crafted, given their own faction, race, class, inventory, stats, etc. They will be as detailed as the PC, with actual personalities. You can take whatever equipment you see on an opponent after you kill them or knock them out. They will also have feelings about your character, reacting to you differently based on many factors: Your personal charisma amount, your conversation skills, your chosen factions (guilds/political parties), and even your clothing. A noble will probably shun you if you don rags, while peasants will avoid you if you dress like a king or queen.
--NPCs will have realistic eyelid and lip movement.
--The award-winning Jeremy Soule will compose the music (He did Icewind Dale, among other things.)
--During the course of the game, if struck by a vampire, you may become a vampire yourself. If you travel to a temple you may be cured. If you choose to ignore the warning signs (in Daggerfall, it was a spooky dream) you will become one yourself, and have all the advantages/disadvantages that come along with your transformation. Your clan will also contact you at some point, and though they won't quite accept you due to your accidental status as vampire, you'll learn a little more about them over time, including how vampires came to be.

Features of note to thieves especially:
--The engine will support real-time shadows.
--Characters will have line-of-sight vision so you can sneak up on them.
--There will be quests available where stealth and planning are paramount.
--You can play many different variations on a thief... one who uses magic, who beats people up to get their gold, who sneaks into houses at night, who picks pockets... whatever you choose.

Character Creation and Customization Options:
--You can start quick, or you can actually choose your options in-game, a la System Shock 2. As your captors in the beginning of the game interrogate you, your answers to the questions they ask will shape who you are.
--You can play as a male or a female.
--There are ten unique races, similar to your fantasy stereotypes, but not what you'd expect. Example: the Dark Elves don't live underground and they're not restricted to white hair. They have ash-grey skin and fierce red eyes. They wear and ride insects, they use gas masks to protect themselves from ash storms on their beautiful volcanic isle. They keep the beast races (cat-people, called Khajiit, and lizard-people, called Argonians) as servants. The races you can play are as follows: Dark, High, or Wood Elf. Orc. Khajiit. Argonian. Imperial, Redguard, Nord, or Breton human. Each have their own history and special abilities. Example: Khajiit have the "Eye of Fear" ability, which lets them terrify opponents.
--You can own your own house. If you're aligned with the Telvanni, hell, you can GROW your own organic home.
--You can join guilds (thieves' guild, assassins' guild, mages' guild, fighters' guild, etc.) and political factions.
--You can create your own unique spells with the spellmaker, and people with the appropriate skills can mix ingredients they find to make potions (alchemy), or give items magical powers (enchant.)
--There are many character classes pregenerated if you wish to take the faster or more standard route. However, the game also lets you customize, creating your own class, tailored to your own whims. You can choose from 27 different skills. Your selected 5 major and 5 minor skills, when increased, will gain you levels. You can still increase any skill, though roleplaying your character properly will bring far better rewards.

Improvements since Daggerfall:
Graphics, detail, and pretty much everything else. Daggerfall problems have been fixed, including bugs--they are VERY committed to getting bugs out, which may be why they've delayed their release from Dec. A lot of PC fans were concerned (if not livid) that the game is also coming out on Xbox (with the Drakan thing I can't blame us), but there is one very positive thing... a game which is going to be released on console must not have bugs, or it will fail to sell. They MUST get the bugs out. It is a hugely important business decision, even more so than it would have been had the game been strictly PC.

The ES World and System:
Tamriel is not a Tolkien ripoff. Though the world and the lore and the races and classes will be familiar, there is a lot more to everything you see if you take a closer look. Almost everything has a little twist to it, and is darker/more mature than your average RPG, despite the presence of humor.
The system is also not really very D&Dish. No complicated restrictions or weird rules to detract from the overall worth of the game. Though sophisticated in many ways, the system is no-nonsense in all the ways that count, and it focuses more on actual roleplaying than on outsmarting itself. For instance, you will never be able to increase your lockpicking skill or your Restoration magic skill by killing monsters. If you want to improve your skill with an axe, you fight with an axe. If you want to improve your stealth, you sneak around for a while. If you want to improve your healing ability, you cast your healing spell, and you don't have to wait until you gain a level to jack up the points. Attributes (1-100 in Daggerfall) are raised when you gain a level, but skills increase through use.
