Game Balance Question
   

Ok, I have a concern and a question here. First off, I think it's great that you can go anywhere, do anything you want in the game and that it's not "on rails". However, most RPGs follow a story or pattern for a purpose. Basically you are given a series of quests, usually in some general order that you fulfill. These quests are usually designed for the skill level you will be at that point in the game - not too easy such that you will be bored, but not too hard such that you will be discouraged and quit.

So how does such a free form game as Morrowind handle this? If I can literally just wander around for a while without following the structured story/quests, then how is the game balanced? Is there some sort of problem in that every ten minutes I stumble into some monster/enemy who kills me because my avatar is too weak? Is there some sort of intelligence in the game that assigns the "appropriate" level enemy for me. Or is there no way around the "risk factor" if you are going to have a free flowing game such as this?

I'm just wondering how the game handles this issue.

Interesting question,

however solution of such problems we saw in many previous games. For example monster autoleveling or autoleveling of some monsters can solve it. But I do not know how it is in Morrowind.

There's a lot of autoleveling monsters in the game. I think about 6000 over the whole island. That doesn't mean rats get more powerful, but instead of A there will be B when you have a certain level.
