Read signs?

Just started the game and I am in Old Camp. There appears to be wooden "signs" on some of the shacks. They appear to highlight when I focus on them much like a bench, character, or other interactive item in the game would.

Is it possible to read them? If so, how? Thanks!

Never really noticed that I think, but if you can't read it by using ctrl + forward, there is no way to read it as far as I know.

Thanks. I was unable to read them by using CTRL + Up. I find it curious that you can highlight them. It is possible I suppose that the devs originally planned to make signs on the huts and later scrapped that idea.

@scaryogre,

Can't give too much away as this isn't the tips & tricks forum, as you are just starting out, you will learn that the game has many divergencies as you progress, they make you think if things are needed or not, kind of making the player make dicisions, some are dead-ends, some seem almost as serving no purpose at all, its all made this way so that you can gather your assumptions as you continue.
The pieces of wood can be hit if you have a hammer in your inventory, not a melee hammer or even a smiths hammer, but a normal diggers hammer, Graham the cartographer will sell you one.
There are many other "interactive" items that you can use, stirring kettles, lighting fires, mashing weed, making potions, frying meat, and others.
Make sure you interact with everything you see, but bear in mind some will need a tool or object before interactivity can commence.

Ooooh the wood the shadows are always hammering on to repair their huts. Didn't think about that, my bad.
