What up folks? I have been playing Gothic for a bit (11th level guard at Old Camp) and truly loving Gothic. Are there any previous games (except Blade of Darkness or Diablo) released or on the way worth playing or looking into. The criteria is a action style rpg with real time combat (not turned base). Thanks.

In some ways, Gothic is like the Thief (and System Shock 2, although this is a different genre - sci-fi rather than fantasy).

Looking Glass Studios no longer exist, but SS2 and Thief are certainly in my top ten of all time. Thief requires brains and strategy (which equipment to pick for each mission) although it doesn't have any RPG style point or level-based character development. SS2 does have character development (you can choose between what in fantasy is roughly equivalent to Thief, Mage and Warrior) although like I said, SS2 is sci-fi.

Avalon (like Diablo 2, but not so good), Gorasul (like BG2 but realtime and more fighting - (you can set autopause and then it is more turnbased)

yes one tip: if you are playing Gothic, start Summoner after you finish it, it is really great RPG with good story, great graphic and efects etc. Just charakter growing is not really good (too pure and automatical)

Summoner is an awesome Game.

At first when playing it i thought it was another boring hack and slash, but it goes over that into a rich story line, with puzzles and excellent effects.

The monsters you can summon are amazing, plus the AI is fairly good.

Dont be put off from the hacking and slashing side of things, soon it will enter an amazing Epic story with good twists..

Again...Brilliant Game

A Time for honoring yourself will soon come to an end....

I've read that the game has many problems, it lockups all time, and it's basically downright buggy

On another note: Vampire the Masquerade is a typical RPG in real time. It has the standard questing, hack and slash, with a great panoramic 3rd person view. The reviews range form good to mediocre, but its in the low price bins now.
