Unresponsive executable

Alright, here's the deal. Everytime I run the program, my system hangs for a second as if it's trying to run it then returns to normal, no gothic 2 loaded.

When I use the auto-run launcher it hangs and goes unresponsive (followed by a quaint "this shit f**ked up" message from windows)

If I check the processes list in the task manager it has a copy of gothic2.exe in the memory, one instance for every time I attempted running it.

The process never consumes any of the cpu power but take around 4900 or 8900k ram. (randomly determined I assume)

system specs:
plenty of HD space (3 gigs free)
1gb pc333 ddr ram
amd 1800+ underclocked for stability reasons\
cd-rw by memorex, dvd rw by someone else, and a virtual drive that I never use
GeForce 4 ti 4400
sound blaster audigy
a7v333 asus motherboard

Is the program maybe blacklisting my cd rom drives? I had the exact same problem with will rock by ubisoft and I had to get a nocd crack to so much as play.

edit: Oh yeah, dx 9

Sounds like a failed CP check. Maybe your drive is really blacklisted or at least technically incompatible to something the CP requires.
