Bigkabuto, you definatly fall above the recommended requirements and from what i've heard you should be able to play it smoothly at 1024x768 but maybe have to tweak the fogging and shadows adjustments a bit. But then agian they've had time to improve performance since the Beta was release to the press, so maybe you could run it with settings cranked at 1024x768..

That's good to hear
but still how is it possible that gothic doesn't run as smooth as it should be?
could it be that Gothic doesn't fully support the geforce3 and Morrowind really DOES support it completely? and of course that MW is using a entire different engine... still strange ..someone i know from my msn , he's a beta tester...has a AMDxp with i believe 512 ram...especially when he approached the waters the game began to show slight stutters...so i heard from him...because of that i kinda started to worry... |

Damn, I dont know why your (bigkabuto) system wouldnt run Gothic smooth. I have a laptop with a 1Ghz processor, and I only have a GeForce2Go (Not even a full blown GeForce2) and I run the game at 1600x1024 silky smooth.
You should see if you can optimize your system some cuz that sure doesnt sound normal. |

Usually when a game is fluttery on an ample system, its because you have all the little visual eye candy on. I don't think some people realize that a game usually looks almost exactly the same with some of the memory hoggs turned off or at least toned down. Dynamic shadows? Please...im satisfied with my character walking on a black dot the whole time. At least then i get a tolerable frame rate.
Oh yeah...on the min specs for MW, why is it that you can run MW on ME/98 with 128mb ram, but it takes 256 with XP/2000? I run bare miniumum for alot of games (ME, 128mb ram, Nivida Vanta tnt2 32mb or something like that....ughhh), but will having ME/128 allow the game to run as smoothly as with 2000/256? I just wanna get all my ram issues cleared up before the release, after that, all ill wanna do is play. |

The reason that Morrowind requires more ram to run on windows2000 or xp is because these operating systems require more memory to run well than Win98 or ME. _________________ "Mr. Magee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."

Hey I just got interested in this game recently. I want to know if my specs are cool with Morrowind since it sounds like a game that's hard to tame.
My specs are:
1.2 Ghz AMD Athlon (with 384 kb on chip cache memory)
256 SD-Rams
Xtasy GeForce 4 MX 4200 (64mb)
Creative SoundBlaster Live! X-Gamer
Windows ME
I normally like to have my games at full settings (since I get few if any slow downs) I wouldn't mind having some minor slowdowns too see "Eye Candy" ofcourse I don't want a very detailed Slide Show.
So I want to know if my PC can handle all of the settings. And I would also like to know what I have to risk to have a decent Frames Per Sec.
I know that non of you know the real min. and recom. Specs but an estimate is ok with me.
Thanks in advanced! |

Well, GForce4 MX 4200 card is not really good one (when they tested it it was with around GForce2 Ti) and 256 SDRam is slow and not enough. |

Graphics card cannot compensate for RAM, it only takes burden from the CPU. Hell RAM is so cheap go down your sofa and youll probably find enough cash for 5Gig. |

No, not for the P4 users, a RamBus upgrade totalling 256 MB is almost the same as getting a Ti 4400. _________________ Make good choices. |
