John Zorn - High Anxiety
From 'Hemophiliac', this is some incredible stuff - very hard to find, as it was made in a 2500 print run (I got it 2nd hand) - ~130 minutes of very difficult listening. _________________ Dopelar effect (n.) The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

Tristania - Lethean River
I finally found a band that comes real close to kicking Therion's butt in the symphonic metal dept. Comes close, but to say any more would be heresy on my part, I will never diss Therion for they are the original masters. And I realize now just how much Cradle of Filth really sucks! Wasnt aware of not only how many other acts are doing to gothic symphonic metal thing, but actually do it far, far better. Forget the little spoken parts and snippets of Sara Jezebel Deva in Cradle's tripe, hear her actually belt out full choruses with Therion. Or the talented female singers in tandem with the death growls, and Sisters of Mercy style "gothier than thou" vocals of Tristania are awesome to hear.
Screw that high-pitched litle girl squeal of Dani Filth, I'll never listen to that utter trash again! _________________ “Then away out in the woods I heard that kind of a sound that a ghost makes when it wants to tell about something that's on its mind and can't make itself understood, and so can't rest easy in its grave, and has to go about that way every night grieving.”-Mark Twain |

'Inamorata' - Miles Davis
From the 'box set' The Cellar Door Sessions, which chronicles the 1970 live performances that ended up forming the basis of the 'Live Evil' record. It is 6 CD's, nearly 6 hours of music ... and this is the 4th version so far of this song ... amazing.

311 - There's Always an Excuse. (So far, I don't care for this new record...but I dig this song) _________________ Between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities…there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars…Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand…to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet. - Robert E.
