I think I've been doing too much swampweed but take a look at this;

http://www.residue-remains.net/hosts/nverr2.jpg

It's just a graphical error I've encountered recently. I didn't have it before but suddenly ... there it is. Anyone ever seen anything like it? It's only at the Swamp Camp too, in the hostile section, just rogue black polygons hanging overhead. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling my video drivers, mobo drivers, going to DirectX 8 (from 8.1) ... I've even tried a fresh install of Windows but I have the same thing. It doesn't bother me in the least but it is a curiousity and I hate unsolved curiousities, besides, I like solving these things so if ever anyone asks me about a similar problem. I can tell them how to fix it.

Most problems I can and have fixed myself, I'm decently proficient with a PC, I'm no expert ... not by long shot but I do read a lot and I know most the steps to fix most problems but this one just basically has me over a barrel, I'm stumped. Like I said, it's not really bothering me so don't go out of your way over it but if anyone could help solve this mystery, I'd be greatful. I don't go to the Swamp Camp much so, no big deal but still ... it's odd and that's what's gotten me. Why only the hostile section of the swamp camp? Why does it look like black fog and fade when I get in close to it? Really odd. Like I said, just a mystery, don't waste time over it if you have more important things to do but if you do have a suggestion ...

Oh and this is a recent thing, not sure whether I mentioned it but it wasn't there before and now suddenly ... bam ... oh, I tried a fresh install of Gothic too, inserting a rune (y'know itarruneteleport3) and going to the camp, same thing.

I've always had that. The swamp isn't as dense as the forest, where you don't notice the effect, but in the swamp you can see all the way through.

::twitches:: Really?

Thanks Sauron, I appreciate the input. Damn I can be unobservant. Either my computer really did one of those supermagically impressive feats o' bug-defeating and somehow I never actually had that for a while (this doesn't surprise me, my PC has sometimes cleaned up bugs that everyone else seems to have ... some bugs still have never haunted me) or I'm simply totally unobservant. I know I'm highly paranoid and if I see something that wasn't there before, I assume the worst (that I've created some kind of driver bug on my system with my tinkering).

Now I know someone else has this problem, I can rest easy in the knowledge that I haven't done something bad to Arf here. And come to think of it, almost every time I was in the Swamp Camp in my previous game was at night. o.O That didn't help me notice it either. Ho well. Thanks. :3
