You know, I wondered about that, but didn't want to open that whole can of worms.

Your 100% sure that Gothic 2 will be released in English format in Q1, right? When I come back in a month or so, the game will be here and not moved to Q2 or something like that, correct? I sure hope so, we've all waited long enough.

Well, all I know is the date JoWooD are giving us. Should they decide to change it, I'll tell you.

It still say Q1 2003 on Jowoods own site.

And Im sure it will say so for another month or so, then it will say summer 2003, and once we reach the summer, they will change it to Q3 2003 and so on and on, until Q1 2010, which is the real release date.

@Dybbuk I surely hope so (we all do); but have you seen their stocks?
The only thing that makes me more nervous is the fact that German speaking people are waiting for an add-on
Why, oh, why didn't I learn German when I had the chance..?

I think it will be going gold once it seems that the 1.30 patch is working fine, before they make a master copy. I realy do not see the game being "done" and "ready" to ship until April, in my own opinion.

By giving the next Add-On maybe coming out about the same time, it will make the German version beta testers feel better for not getting a clean original. Then later there will always be the final End of Year Gold Edition, with Gothic 2 patched version with the Add-On, to sell internationally for Christmas Q4.

Many game companies do this, and with the good sales in Germany, someone will publish the international version in English sooner or later.

Patience, Luke..patience...

4 months or more later than the German version and still not in 'gold' means that even the publisher did not foresee the delaying factors in real life, that somehow other big game publishers do see, although not many games are bi or tree lingual. But the Englisch version was already finished months ago. So I would not be surprised if the game will not be released in march as other delaying factors may turn up or are still in process that Jo Wood has already proofed it cannot anticipate successfully

No games are ever released by the original release date... it's just the way it is. I think both Morrowind and NwN were released a couple of years after the originally announced release dates. Four months is nothing, the English version of the original Gothic was more than a year behind the German version. Don't stress this... there isn't a problem yet.

IS this the same thing? The whole game as a structure was delayed.
Gothic was completely finished albeit in the German fashion.
It is ONLY exchanging text and sound files with a certain amount of lipsync. Whatever, it was finished months ago

This is even more ridiculous. A multiple language version should have been a design decision from the start. So even after the eperience of multilingual with Gothic I, it is even more "amateurism" that the English version is still holding for Gothic 2. The English version will gather much more revenues than the German version, so it is not a wise business decision to stall.
