i though the sleeper was supposed to be asleep, in fact the fAQ says dont wake him up
why is it then that when i went to the temple to beat the game the sleeper was wide awake and having fun roasting me while i tried to kill novices. by the way those fireballs made novice-killing very hard, first you cant hit while your burning plus gettin hit by like 15 novices and pyrokenises, as you probably guessed by now, ive died a few times trying to win that fight.
any advice here?

The first time I finished the game, the sleeper woke up (I think Cor Kalom has something to do with that). The second time he remained dormant.

the key to whackin' the Novices is to run behind one of the pillars above the stairs, the Sleeper balls can't hit ya from there.

I just charged like Sir Lancealot in Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail movie. It worked. In fact, very seldom did that tactic NOT work for me in the game.

Either stay where the Sleeper can't shoot you or keep moving.

I liked Monty Python too. I played the game more like the fire mage Tim than Lancelot though. Only thing I was missing was his magical fire staff/bazooka.

Don't need the staff in Gothic... though a staff would have been nice. YOU become the bazooka.

Or.. well... neutron bomb near the end...

So THAT'S what happens...

I never knew the Sleeper started out asleep and then awoke during the actual battle in the temple.

I had been wondering why, on some of my games, he spat fireballs like no tomorrow, and on others he didn't even react to me.

Thanks for clearing this up for me, guys.
