Be ready for some completely retarded newbie questions

I just started playing this game

How do I become an arcane archer?

I need to be able to cast arcane spells. How do I do that?

I need a base attacking bonus of +6. What does that mean? How do I do that?

If I start as a ranger, does this mean I need to switch to different classes during level up?

Who should I use for henchman? Does henchman takes away half of my experience points?

Thanks.

First off, which game are you playing; original OC, SOU, or HOU? Prestige classes are NOT available in the original game, but become so in SOU. If you want to be an AA, then you need to have SOU installed. I believe the requirements are listed in the manual, as well as in-game. Give us more info, and we'll help you out.

I got gold edition and installed all discs. I hope that means I have shadows of undrentide.

I figured a few things out here. I started as a ranger and switch to wizard in level 2 and switch back two ranger on level 3. I think that fulfills the arcane spell requirement.

I think as a level 3 ranger, I already have all requirement fulfilled for arcane archer, except attacking bonus of +6. I am not sure how that works yet.

Your attack bonus increases as you level up.

Rangers get +1 base attack a level and sorcerers/wizards get +1 every two levels. You only need one level of an arcane class to get arcane archer therefore you should be able to get the class at level 7 (level 6 ranger = base attack +6, level 1 wizard for the arcane spells).

As long as you have the Feats for it (check the level up screen... click on arcane archer when you advance a level and it will tell you what feats you need. Make sure you get the feats).
