What kind of CRPG do you wish to play in next year? |
|
I asked my self what I want to play next year. I do not mean exact title like Wizardry 9 and I also do not mean ideal CRPG. Did you miss something in RPGs in several last years or in last year?
****************************
I really want to play single player RPG placed in universe, with many planets, different races and very complex trading system. I imagine graphics like Morrowind or Gothic 2 and many planets where you can travel with many planets with different nature (or even without nature), with different races, with different resources ect. |

Wizardry 9.
To answer your exact question, I have Gothic1 sitting on the shelf. I'm looking forward to getting the time to see what everyone's so psyched about. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

That's a rather hard question to answer. Depsite the number of quality titles this year none of them was exactly what I was expecting/wanting. Morrowind was great but a bit static and I lacked motivation, NWN was not as good as I'd hoped and I really missed a full party, Arx has been good but there's no dialogue trees and limited character advancement. In particular, no story has totally sucked me in.
I guess I'd like to see a game set in an unconventional universe (sci-fi would be great) with a good balance between freedom and story with deep character development. But the quality of the story is paramount to me.
I don't think any game I know of will fit this bill exactly, but there's a few that might go some way. |

I think whart you want is Anachronox? it meets all your requierments. I haven't played but it's kinda like Arx and Baldur's gate mixed. I think. _________________ "Whow, the necromancer is here" -Bartacus to myself |

I played and quite liked Anachronox but it was heavily influenced by console RPGs (combat derived from Final Fantasy, for example) which wasn't really my taste and the story was pretty average.
I did enjoy the unique gameworld and I'd like to see more of that. |

Well, I got Warcraft III for Christmas, so I guess I'll start with that.
Then I also got Jagged Alliance 2. I start that after WC3. They're not really CRPGs, but I'm not too excited about some of last years titles.
I'm definately looking forward to Gothic 2. I'll probably grab Lionheart also. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

I am playing Arx now, but I long for anything with Gothic in the title. _________________ "You two are a regular ol' Three Musketeers." |

Oh, Jagged Alliance 2 definitely is a CRPG, don't worry. You design your own character, build one or more parties, have character development, stats juggling and levelling, puzzles, side quests, different ways to solve problems, interesting NPC interactions, the same kind of combat you have in most other iso3D CRPGs, a nice, mean story... once again, JA2 definitely is a CRPG. It's just not fantasy.
I still have Arx and MMIX to play, but I'm looking forward to games which combine a 1st person view with suspense and action, a good story, decent puzzles, a great atmosphere, not too many stats and preferrably no party - let's say, Deus Ex 2 and Thief III. _________________ Jaz |

Then why does the box claim it's a stradegy game?
Is it sort of like Fallout Tactics? _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

This is a good list...except I quite like a party.
Deus Ex 2 should rock! |

I haven't played Fallout Tactics. And I have not the slightest idea why the box says 'Strategy Game'. JA2 is not strategy like Battle Isle or Panzer General or even WC or C&C (if you dare calling those 'strategy'). It incorporates small group tactics, like most party-based CRPGs. And you should be very careful about selecting your party members . _________________ Jaz |

Hmm... Well, it sounds like Fallout Tactics. If it is like FT, then I'll probably enjoy it. Maybe WC3 can wait a day or two. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

I haven't gotten very far into it yet (my "to play" shelf is actually rather full at the moment), but JA2 reminds me a lot of X-Com, only with stronger RPG elements. That's a good thing in my book. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

If I can return this on-topic. I didnt ask what certain RPG do you want to play, but what kind of RPG, RPG with which setting do you want to play next year, if there were something you missed a lot in last year(s). |

Medieval MMORP Dungeon Crawl Games... (MMMORPDCG for short)
By that I mean something like EQ.
I'd also like to play some Morrowind-like single player game, or a single player party game (like BG). Some sci-fi environment would also be nice to see in upcoming rpgs. _________________ Like some bold seer in a trance;
