Bounty hunt mixed up morals

Okay, can some one explain this to me. I am playing a Ranger in the latter stages of chapter 2. When I discovered the Ranger (Stirge?) and got his story I felt very sorry for him. Yeah he overrected, but I was willing to cut him some slack. So I let him go after he gave me the ear. BANG - I am stripped of my "Benefactor" title, and moved 10 points toward evil!!!!

Okay, so I reload and redo the encounter, this time killing him. Then I run into the main bad guy who's just kiddnapped the girl. I kill him and BANG - I am stripped of my "Benefactor" title, and moved 10 points toward evil!!!!

So I reload and this time let him go (taking the ear of course) and the game has no problem with this.

I dont get it!

I give the okay guy a break and get shafted. I treat the really bad guy as well as I treated the okay guy and get shafted. If it is not just an error in scripting can some one explain this to me? It seems I am being rewarded for RANDOM behavior Talk about breaking the emersion spell.

PS - It might not have been 10 points toward evil, I just remember it as a large number (more than 1 or 2). It was the title stripping that really got me.

Stirge was a child killer. He deserved to die.
If you hear out each of their stories you can pretty much judge who is worth killing and who isn't.

Yeshgar (sp?) wasn't so nice either - and was not forthcoming with his story. He only explained how he abducted the girl ... not why he was put in prison. He did not seem to deserve to live to me.

I agree with you about Stirge - he really did go on a killing ramage ... but at least he was pushed into insanity. Yeshgar is free, and what does he do? Goes back to a life of crime. He was the only one of the five that I lost standing by killing (I was sorry I had to kill the minotaur ... he seemed very innocent - but I must have triggered an attack response during our conversation while pumping him for info. I liked him, and he seemed the least guilty of the five).

Minotaur was not guilty at all. Unless General Lee is guilty as well. :/

Guilty of what? Refusing to toss a fight?

I didn't kill the minotaur, he seemed somehow noble and I had the option to let him go. Fair enough, but that killed the rest of the quest. That was BAD scripting, designing, whatever.

Zor is in some caves between Port Laast and Luskan,

You'll find out about the other guy later on.

But then again, it's a challenge to be good.
My vote, though, goes to double-neutral.

Bounty Hunter

I've gone right thru the caves where Zor was supposed to be and I didn't find him I checked in all the corners for dropped bags n'things too but no luck.
So...at this stage I'm stuck unable to get into the Port Llast mines and Luskan.
Plus I have some odd things in my bags; Gulgash's heart, the Spirit wood poison and antidote, a lock of Nymph's hair, some Ironwood, the crystal frog & skull, a Great Axe (çan't recal which ogre that came from), Alhelor's tooth and the bottles from Wanev's Tower. What do I do with this stuff??? It must go somewhere.
I seem to be at an impass. Perhaps I should begin again?

Actually, I think Zor is in the inn near the entrance to Luskan.

Several of those items are parts of henchman quests.
